Dave
Mixed feelings tbh. Delighted for the lad but our injury record with England doesn't bring back fond memories.

STM
Mixed feelings tbh. Delighted for the lad but our injury record with England doesn't bring back fond memories. Thing is though, i don't see Carroll as the sort of player who misses many games (without having a serious injury). I suspect the next time we lose Carroll for a significant period of time will be if he has a serious injury or lands himself in jail.

He was a mackem though. Can't remember if Gazza got a full call up while with us. - EDIT: Gazza first called up Sept 88 - he was at Spuds then. Think it might be Beardsley - he was first capped in 1986, but Waddle was in 1985.

David28
Love it that we finally have a player for England again. Who was the last player to play for England while being here btw? LiquidAK
If he scores he should do the Shearer celebration, since Shearer made his debut against France at Wembley and scored too.

Really angry at the thought of this. Nailed on to come off injured. I'll be annoyed if he gets injured obviously, but I don't think it's a reason to wish he hadn't been called up. It's just part and parcel of football.
