Guest BooBoo
Souness was clueless and Shepherd far too interfering with who we bought. He thought the fans wanted headline grabbing names so spunked millions on the likes of Duff who wasn't needed but would keep the season ticket money rolling in. Wow!! In other news Lee, Newcastle will need to score more goals than Tottenham to win on Saturday but if they score the same number of goals then a draw is more than likely. ExiledGeordie
17m quoted in the press (albeit the Mail as one of the sources) as being enough to bring Carroll back. I suppose with haggling you could reduce that to 14/15m. Still not sure how I feel about the Carroll thing really. That amount could be spent on other quality players/positions but Pardew still clearly rates him.....

wormy
Three men that together brought the club to its knees. Tossers, all three of 'em. That picture genuinely makes my stomach churn a bit with the memories. Made all the more worse considering how stupidly optimistic I was that pre-season. I remember at the time being sat there at work...me and this other lad just kept looking at each other saying "souness" over and over again. The none football fans kept telling us to shut the fuck up...then we found out Saunders was coming with him. The we repeated the whole thing. Awful, awful day. Part of me died that day. Dipshit reacted like he always does, goes polar opposites. Basically SBR was being too soft on his players, too fatherly and they were starting to disrespect him. So souness comes in, a man no one in football messes with. That is the only reason for his appointment.

Pilko
The more I think about it, the less I'd like us to get Carroll back. I'm hoping that towards the end of the transfer window we'll see some of our other targets in the striking department become cheaper or more readily available, and that we'll move to secure them instead. Oh, and done another write up, this time on West Ham's potential bid for Carroll can be found here. Cheers.
