Best free kick specialist in the country?

Needs to do it in the bigger games more, which is unlikely as hes a squad player. Id say Larsson (unfortunately) is probably a better set piece taker, as he gets the job done in the big games.

They must have had free-kick competitions in their Wigan days.

Right-footed version of Rory Delap. A footballer only in the loosest sense of the word.

Really harsh that, not a great player but since last season he has been dependable with the odd moment of brilliance.

Delap has always been a pikey looking thing who would have probably been a more successful quarter back than footballer.

to be fair i've only really noticed delap play football with his hands and the second sentence is harsh verging on utter crap.

peter beagrie on the commentary last night mentioned how Raylor praticed freekicks over and over again from ayoung age - they were at tranmere together

It wasn't peter Beagrie. It was Brian Little who was at Tranmere when Taylor was there as a youngster.

I love the man, you can tell he loves playing here, he's made himself a cult hero and he accepts he is a bit part player. Very useful squad member, especially for cup competitions.

This, plus his versatility and great attitude, make him worth his contract I think

He is one of those players who has gone on with his job and despite harsh criticism from the fans, he has proved his worth and improved his abilities..was not that long when people said he didn't deserve to be here..same like James Perch..

`Pardew told the Chronicle today: “I genuinely think Ryan is pushing for a place.

“He has good players in front of him, but we will see.”

i really hope there is nothing in this!!! hope this is only motivational hot air from pardew...worried.  HE is really clueless about team selections at times.

Mostly motivational, but at the same time our squad isn't that big and we have 2 domestic cups, a european venture and a league competition. So I would not be surprised if Pardew rotates the squad and Taylor gets a good number of starts this season.

Whilst I'd love to get a few more players in the door (re Debuchy & Douglas) I don't really think anyone can accuse Pardew of being clueless about team selection.. his team finished 5th last season and it's not like anyone of us could do better ;)
