Ideally I agree but 16-17 year olds make their first team debuts sometimes, so when a player that young can be a professional it's hard to put a lid on movements of 15 year olds.

There's a range of things you can do at the age of 16 you can't do at 15. I don't know why football has to be any different

Exactly this. Some players are around the First-Team by 16-17 or on the fringes. Some lads are going to be penalised in their development just because of where they're born.

There's nothing to stop a parent sending their kids elsewhere in the country if they think it'll benefit their education so why should football be any different?

Because education is more important than football?

If a kid born in Liverpool was the most naturally gifted thrower of an American football anyone had ever seen should that kid or family be prevented from moving to the US?

Look at some of the Olympic sports (gymnastics, figure skating, etc.). There are kids and families moving to be near certain training facilities all the time. Most of those professional and Olympic dreams don't end well, so I agree it's all crazy and often driven by parents more than anything. But 1) you can't stop families from moving if they want to and 2) a kid born in Scarborough should be able to seek the same opportunities as a kid born in London or Manchester.

I think there's a difference between families moving and football clubs buying children

My point is always been i think it's grim that children move to another part of the country for financial incentives for the parents and football clubs

Also grim from a footballing point of view. Lower league clubs developing a player, then along come a club like Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool etc. before the lad has even made a first team appearance.

What do you suggest then. Kids at 15 having a massive handicap the rest of their career because they don't have the training, facilities, etc that similar age kids have, just because they're from nowhere near a club with a top academy?

Barnsley got compensated £350k plus massive future add-ons for him fwiw. That's probably more than most clubs at that level spend on an individual player and seems more than fair for what they'd spent on developing him up to this point. Would be pretty shite if other players his age have access to the best coaches, etc while he has to stay.

Salia scores again, 2 in 2. Hope he lives up to the hype after a terrible start to his nufc career.

Not long before nutjobs will be calling for him to be starting for first team.

Tonight’s game v Blackburn u21s available on the app. Neave has just scored a belter to put us 1-0 up. Looks miles ahead of the rest of the age group.

Right, as we pretty much have nothing left to play for this season, might as well try out some youngsters. Give some minutes to Neave, Alabi, Park, Sahar etc.

no point playing the likes of Rsmsdsle, Willock, Wissa if they are not going to be around next season. Giving the youngsters some minutes might actually help us for the future and regain some support for Eddie.
