Howard Webb

^ That's very true Dinho, we really only have ourselves to blame for this.

How come every referreeing mistake is scrutinised minutely while players are wearing our shirt who cannot hit a cows arse with a banjo fuck up many times in every game?

That could be applied to football as a whole, a ref on £50K a year is expected to have a faultless game every game but if a striker on perhaps 50 times the wage misses a complete sitter a 5 year old would have buried then the excuses come out - the ball bobbled, he just didn't get his head on it, the ball was too pacey etc etc etc.

Mind that was a shite decision today tho all the same.

Howard Webb should have never been invoved in this fixture - he has previous from the 4-1 we had three years back.  Amazing that he was actually able to actually see though a crowd of players today, but was unable to see Shearer get hacked down on a number of occasions in match changing situations in that fixture when he had a clear view.

If Bassong went off for that then surely Vidic should have went off against us for chopping down Martins on the edge of the area when he was through on goal vs Man U.  These things are supposed to 'even themselves out' over a season, but we have got a hell of a lot more dubious decisions given against us than for us again this year.

From what I saw, doesn't deserve too much stick.  Red card looked fair.  Don't know if their goal was offside, but it's not his call.  I said before the cross went in for Viduka Nolan would give away a fk, he was blocking Shwazer at least before the cross.

Gave quite a lot of soft free kicks to us.

I'm angry with the team and noone else.

The difficulty is, its a little from column A, a little from column B.

We have had some piss take decisions this year even against Fulham away the push on Cacapa. Its frustrating, but by the same accord the lads just haven't been good enough. They lacked desire, passion for that period between Keegan and Kinear.

To be honest, all in all you could blame 4-5 different parties, but when push comes to shove, the team haven't performed.

It all about position of defenders. Vidic had support close at hand from Ferdinand if I remember, which means it wasn't obvious goal-scoring, whilst Bassong was last man. Rules is rules.

I was saying only last night, that he'd been good to us this season. Gave us that dubious penalty v the mackems, and gave Stoke a goal kick at Hull last week, when it was obviously a corner and a chance to equalise at the death. It seems he's not so keen on us anymore.

The Fulham player was heading away from goal thirty five yards out - Martins was past the defender about to have a clear crack at goal, Ferdinand wouldn't have got near him.

Clint Dempsey was booked and then took a dive to try and earn a penalty, which is in itself a bookable offence.  Webb took it upon himself to ignore the rules of the game and didn't give him his second.  But it all in the interpretation of the rules isn't it - which Howard Webb has a history of interpreting against us.

Whether he'd have got to Martins or not, Vidic wasn't the last man ergo it wasn't a sending off.

RE: the Fulham player, he was close enough in that he had a clear run through on goal and there wasn't another defensive player for miles, therefore sending off. If it was Vidic, Ferdinand, Terry, Carragher, Bramble, O'Brien, Boumsong, Faye, Shearer or Noel Edmonds in the same position, it'd have been a sending off. If it was Mike Riley, Graham Poll, Steve Bennet, Mike Dean, Andy Durso or Rob Styles it'd have been a sending off.

Don't act as though Bassong only got sent off because Howard Webb hates us. It's just being petty. Yes, he probably made on or two mistakes, but we had the chances and we should have had the quality to take them. Noone to blame but ourselves.

Sorry, but that is complete and utter bullshit.   It all depends on how a referee interprets the rules (good sidestep on the Dempsey one).  The day before Barton was sent off for a two footed challenge, there was a match with an over the top of the ball studs up two footed challenge (think it may have been the Wigan match that week) which resulted in a booking for the culprit.

The next time that you see an incident of the same type as the Bassong one, in the same position on the field the most you will see for that will be a booking.

But there's debate. There's debate about two footed challenges because it's down to what the ref sees and his interpretation of the rules as you say.

Bassong either brought the player down or he didn't. If he did, sending off. If he didn't, then it's not even a foul. He clearly brought him down therefore it's a clear red card. Bassong was the last outfield player between him and the goal. He's denying him an opportunity to score.

There's no way that you can compare a two-footed challenge to denying a clear goalscoring opportunity.

He had a shocker but some of its down to what Poll wrote in the paper about Nolan blocking players, its a disgrace that nothing will be done about the dissallowed goal.

WE should apeal the red though not to get it over turned but so Bass can play against Villa.

Why should we appeal, im sure it costs the club money to make an appeal to the FA and it was probably one of the easiest red cards Webb would have made this season.

Plus even if it was possible to play him, which I'm sure it wouldn't be anyway, they'd clearly see what we were trying to do and extend the ban and probably fine us.

I'd take a fine and a couple of extra game ban for Bassong if it means we can have our best CB for our most important games in years, so he misses 2 -3 games at the start of next season so what. Yeah it was a clear red card but we have the right to appeal and we should, we fkn need him man, a game we HAVE to win and no Bassong its just massive for us.

We could appeal on the basis that they can ban him for 2 extra games all they want, he probably won't be our player next year.

Not Webb's fault we're not good enough.

Actually we more than matched fulham today. First half we were poor but we were much the better side in the 2nd and deserved to get something out of the game. We had more possesion and more teritorial advantage, according to the stats. It was an absolutely shocking decision by webb, there was not enough there to give a foul and it has cost us our PL status. I'm not absolving the players totally from blame here, as they've got us into this position, but Webb has played a huge part in sending us down.

Have a f***ing word .

Howard Webb will play no part in us getting relegated, fact is we should have scored with all this 'posession and teritorial advantage'. We should have been better than we were, end of.

Plus there's the other 37 games you play in a season.

How about you stfu !!

Did you even read what I said, we deserved something out of the game we had the possesion, territory and the best chances. Yes of course if we played even better we would have got the result we needed, no s*** sherlock !

Webb has had a huge part to play in sending us down, if you think that is a crazy statement to make, as you suggest, then you are proving to be a complete blithering idiot. Maybe you should be the one having a word with yourselves lol lol lol

Oh and the "pls 37 other games shit. Again did you read my post "I'm not absolving the players totally from blame here, as they've got us into this position", ffs reading comprehension ftw.
