Was a good servant for the club after the relegation season. But, frankly, he's no good to us anymore, especially not in the Premiership. Even as a sub or backup he doesn't offer any threat - much like Smith in respect of the fact that he's a wasted space on the bench.

I quite like him, we got him on free and he did very well for us, been a pro throughout his time and the club and actually dosn't have a bad goal-scoring record with us. good luck to him what ever he decides.

Same, he's a good pro and has contributed a decent amount, just now is the right time to move him on.

Dunno why we're even offering him a new contract.

We're not. That's kind of the point.

Read the article

The article doesnt say that he has been offered one though. Says Pardew would like him to sign 'but i cant wait for that' suggesting it may only be a short term deal offered at the end of the season.

Good bloke, good servant getting us back up and at times last season but we need better players. Wish him all the best, hopefully will get a decent upper Championship team or something.

I can see the logic in keeping him on for another year as backup, but I'd rather we allowed him to leave and gave a long-term contract to Sammy, as well as factoring in the apparent signing of Maiga.

Never disliked the guy as I've always thought he gives 100% whenever he plays. Just think sometimes he becomes anonymous in games and I really can't see him getting into the first team with the form Ba and Best are in, especially with HBA coming back as well.

One thing I've always liked about him though is that he always acknowledges the fans. Every away game I've been to he's always came over to the away fans and acknowledged there support. Barton used to do this all the time as well. Might just be me being petty but one of my football pet hates is when players don't acknowledge supporters after the game/when coming of :p

Good lad, actually had a dream about him scoring a few last night but time to go. As much as I love the guy we shouldn't have offered Shola a new contract so definitely not Loven. Would prefer us to sign a forward in January then give the likes of Sammy/Vuckic a chance next season when required.

If the club could offload Lovenkrands, Harper & Smith in the jan window for nothing the club will have improved immensely.

He did his bit just like Harper, but it's time to move on for everyone's sake.

Smith is a cunt.

Don't mind either way if we keep or rid him.  If he stays, he should be very low in the pecking order for strikers - but will say he takes 1 hell of a penalty and will always respect his dedication to us in the championship season.  Will always respect the man.

He scored 13 goals in the Magpies’ Championship success, and has 28 in all for the club in 54 starts and 24 substitute appearances.

That's actually not a bad goal-ratio for us. The problem with him is that he doesn't really contribute with much else. Even though I'm a Dane myself, I wouldn't complain at all if we got rid.

He's such a classy player and helped us out when we were in the Championship. I'll never forget when he scored the goal when his dad died. One of the most emotional moments I've experienced as a Newcastle fan.

Also, I have to respect his decision to move for more playing time. I hope he gets what he wants. All the best to him.

I like him, his accent's quality and he's obviously a good guy. If you look at his stats, they're not bad at all. If you look at his performances they are. He's got a very good footballing brain and has made a lot of his limited talent, when he goes I'll be happy to have called him a Newcastle player, while he's still here I'm not happy to call him a newcastle player

Outstanding contribution in the CCC and at least he's said he want to move because he knows he wont get many games. A foreign concept for some, eh Alan?

I wouldn't say it was outstanding. He was fucking doshite away from home, for a start.

we won't find a better experienced fifth choice striker for the wage and fee we pay. So it is a choice between him and a kid or just buying a top class striker and putting the other strikers down the order.
