dcmk
So what happened to this wage cap?
Guest Roger Kint
So what happened to this wage cap? Owners can fund wages(or any other expenditure outside the wagecap) by giving the club money. The money is not a loan and can never be repaid though.
Ketsbaia
campbell is an idiot. i know money talks etc etc, but after a career earning extortionate wages, here he had the opportunity to settle up north with his girlfriend where there just so happened to be a big club at his level who want him. but no - off to nottingham he goes to play aldershot, burton and morecambe. Ash
Apparently he's going to be the highest paid player in England outside of the Premier League.
mattynufc
Apparently he's going to be the highest paid player in England outside of the Premier League. Given half our first teams wages I doubt that, but we shall not get into the old arguement of 'how do you know how much they earn bollocks'

Given half our first teams wages I doubt that, but we shall not get into the old arguement of 'how do you know how much they earn bollocks' Well that's what they're reporting on SSN. I did wonder if they'd forgotten that we are no longer in the Premier League.
TRon
I heard somewhere that County were willing to match his wages at Portsmouth. If that's true then he's obviously going to go there for the money, it's similar to us chucking shitloads at Michael Owen. It's just one of those things you can't legislate for so forget it and move on.

Ash
Five-year contract! Deary me, glad we didn't sign him, that's lunacy.
Dave
Five years, fucking hell. Regardless of the wages (which will no doubt be spectacularly high for that division) that is absolutely bonkers.

He's been promised a coaching role as well. Don't know what's going on at County but hopefully the club will be bankrupt and languishing in non-league football by the time Sol's contract is up. Pilko
So he'll be just shy of age 40 when that contract expires. He keeps talking about the Premier League with County, even if they get three successive promotions and reach the PL, Sol will be 38 going into that season. There's no way he'll be good enough then to play in the Premier League, especially as he'll have been playing against sub-standard opposition and will have no legs left at all. Blatantly should have done another season in the PL or Championship before jumping down the divisions.

SEMTEX
Would anyone else here have turned down a 5-year-contract with Notts County at those wages at the age of 35? Compared to our reported 1-year-offer, or an offer from a Prem club? Without your NUFC bias hat on obviously.
midds
He's just hit the jackpot tbh. Any 5 year deal @ about £80k a week has to be signed at his age. We're not in a position to offer him anywhere near that. Can't blame him for signing for County and every single one of us would have done exactly the same.
