Mowen
Interesting suggestion on TT by Happy Face btw - that the £10m bonus story is perhaps a leak from access to this data room. I wonder what other nasty little surprises are hidden away in there? What/where is the £10m bonus story?

QBG
So, we have four interested parties, who all have the funds and all want Shearer as Manager so why has he not be confirmed? What if the club cannot be sold though? Ashley won't commit to anything. We don't know for certain that they all do want Shearer anyway, the media don't even know who the parties are so they're just speculating. True, looking at from an investment standpoint though, Shearer is one of the most valuable assets, aside from the fans and the stadium. So I can't understand anyone looking to buy the club not wanting him there.
Skirge
Its just more utter pointless speculation, they have to write about it as its the biggest thing going on with the club but the fact is they know about as much as we do.
Ronaldo
Ashley bought the club when it had just appointed a new manager that he didn't want. The club may be a more attractive proposition if the top job is left open. One of the consortiums may not want Shearer

My guess is those interested reckon as he's not at the club as an asset the sale price will be a bit lower. Then they'll ride into town, appoint Shearer anyway and take all the glory. Probably already tipped him off.
Dave
http://www.rivals.net/news/pgarticle.aspx?artid=13498_5388356&id=55 Breaking: Somethings Happening By Ken Waugh - 19/06/2009 10:03 According to our source close to the training ground, we have been informed of the following developments.. As our source was walking his dog, he noticed some posh cars with blacked out windows, and in particular one of them was a van. It can be suggested that the van was carrying either, people or pies, as it is close to 10am we can again only assume that it is the pie woman, however the previous van arrived at about the same time, though could never be fully relied on, and often people stood and waited 15 minutes either side of 10am The blacked out windows are significant as it seems that the previous Pie Woman has been given the elbow (possibly due to erratic timekeeping), in favour of the Pukka Pie Woman, altogether a better class and the addition of The Balti Pie is fantastic for the players. Our source also noticed that the grass had been cut, and dog poo's were visible on the outskirts, this is a sign of the times and owners should really be more responsible. There was a kid at the gates, (that have previously been locked to keep out thieves and vagabonds) He seemed to be interested too, however, as it is a a school day, it was obvious to our source that the kid was "playing wag" so our source gave him a clip round the lug, and sent him on his merry way, safe in the knowledge that the law didn't see him clip the kid, and caution him for belting bairns. As with the other media sources about our takeover, we believe this news to be relevant and just about as accurate as all other stories.

Dave
It's only 11 days. I know we need to hurry the fuck up but many players/managers/agents are probably still on holiday anyway.

Teasy
Weren't these all Ashley buys? And Ashley had 2 years to sort out the wage structure or have you forgotten? Barton could of been fired. Smith could of been sold last summer. Owen could of been sold anytime. Viduka, Geremi, Butt not so much but could be a surprising taker. Every team has their deadwood too as well tbh recently read that Everton has just got rid of van der Meyde, completely forgot about him sure he was on a fairly good wage. All, bar one, were signed when Shepherd was still chairman, only Smith was signed just after when Mort came in. Sorting out a £70m wage structure in under 2 years is anything but easy. Selling them isn't guarenteed unless your willing to sell at whatever price is neccesary to move them. Also as you sell you have to keep bringing in new players to try to improve the team. No doubt this is the season when the wage bill was planned to drop significantly with a lot of high earners finally out of contract (dropping the bill by £14m), just a pitty the fat idiot managed to get us relegated the same year

AyeDubbleYoo
Aye, you can't 'sort out the wage structure' when players are on pre-existing contracts with time left to run. Seems like slashing investment was a reckless gamble by Ashley that didn't pay off. If it had we might actually have been much better for it.

Guest dover
Ashley and Llambias are expected to be at Royal Ascot over the next two days, which would also appear to rule out the prospect of any significant change in the situation over the next 48 hours. That's nice of them. It's only a football club. Load of bollocks, blatent paper bullshit, Ashley and llambias are at ascot so cant sell the club ffs what total utter shite that article is written for mongs. "Theres a £100 million pounds here if you want it Mike" "Can it wait im at ascot?" who writes this shite. No wonder were the laughing stock of the country. Skirge
Can't we just slash the wages anyway? The players are gonna bugger off/be unhappy regardless. No not unless they agree to it, fkn contracts man they are killing us.
Teasy
Can't we just slash the wages anyway? The players are gonna bugger off/be unhappy regardless. They have contracts which have to be honoured. We will slash the wage bill, but only by letting players go. Owen, Viduka, Cacapa, Lovenkrands and Gonzales are effectively gone already, then we really need to get rid of at least five from: Coloccini, Nolan, Barton, Martins, Duff, Smith, Gutierrez, Geremi, Butt. That will provide us with around a £30m saving per season.
