Mike Ashley is still trying to sell the fallen North East giants, but as yet a deal does not seem imminent. As the sale has not gone through, caretaker boss Chris Hughton remains in charge. And Krul admits he will not get a chance to push Steve Harper for the number one jersey until a permanent boss is brought in. Krul told Dutch magazine Sportweek, that he would like to see Barry Moat brought in as he would bring back Alan Shearer to the club. His U21 manager came out and said he needs more games and is unhappy with his selection at Newcastle. Now Krul comes out with this. He's just had his ear bent a bit, and considering Krul's comments are to a Dutch mag or something i guess what his manager has said was put to him and this is his answer. Having a sly dig, but at least he's not throwing in transfer requests...yet. Aye true, I'm just more surprised a journalist here hasn't ran with the quote and twisted it. Unfortunately there is time. Having watched Krul in action for Holland’s Under-21 side, both Bayern and Juve have looked into his situation at St James’s Park, where he is understudy to Magpies’ No 1 Steve Harper. With several Premier League big guns and the three top sides in his native Holland also interested, United face having to fend off bids for Krul in the January transfer window. With little prospect of the experienced and in-form Harper being usurped as first-choice, the key to keeping Krul on Tyneside in the long term may be a new contract. The 21-year-old’s current deal expires at the end of next season, and is worth a fraction of the wages he could expect to command elsewhere. Krul was warned last month by Holland under-21 coach Cor Pot he risks his international future while he warms the bench at Newcastle. However, since starring as a half-time substitute for Harper in United’s 1-1 draw at West Brom on the opening day of the Championship season, Krul has been restricted to 180 minutes of Carling Cup action. It is now almost three years since the youngster signed by Graeme Souness from Den Haag as a 17-year-old made his first-team bow in a UEFA Cup tie against Palermo. However, despite starring that night amid a hostile atmosphere in a 1-0 win, Krul has made just three senior starts for United. I am still not all that keen on Harper tbh, think he still looks indecisive at times. agree, even though harper is probs one of the best keepers in the championship he is so slow and laid back ive never seen the bloke run. That said Krul has let at least one poor goal in each time he started in the cup games. also not sure we should be giving young players in key positions that many chances this season, we need out this league this season, we are not conceding goals so why tamper with it, it might cost us Krul but getting promotion is more important Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

At the moment Harper's a far better keeper than Krul. 3 Years time and maybe we should consider Krul as 1st choice goalkeeper...And despite a fantastic game at West Brom, he looked far from pefect against Huddersfield and Peterborough.
