Tim Krul (now playing for Luton Town)

A shame how all this has ended up. Nowt against the bloke at all, but hope this doesn't come back to bite us in the arse if he ends up helping them avoid relegation.

It's possible that Brighton play in a way that does not highlight Krul's weaknesses, say kicking. So him not suiting what Rafa wants to do does not necessarily imply he won't be of use to one of our rivals.

Lomana Tresor Lua Lua.

Just saying.

He won't be able to play against us

Even if he could, he'd be unlikely to score. Doesn't mean he couldn't contribute to our disappointment.

The script has him coming up for a corner in the 93rd minute on the last day of the season to score a goal that keeps them up and sends us down [emoji38]

Arguably our best keeper going to our rivals, with no replacement coming in.

Good move.

Ashley has entered the Yao Ming phase of his tenure.

I'm offended by this.

Good.

If he was our best keeper than Rafa would not be getting rid of him. We'd surely have just taken the cash for Darlow and kept Krul.

So Rob Elliot and Karl Darlow are better?

Yes.

Probably so now. Krul was horrendous the 2 seasons before we went down, didn't do himself any favours out on loan either.

People seem to forget this. Anyway, all the best to him, great bloke. Reunited with Hughton :aww:

I think there's a lot of wishful thinking here. A lot of wanting Krul to still be any cop because when he first broke through he looked like he could go on to be world class, and over the years he did put in plenty of match winning performances. Realistically though he's been on the decline for a few years now, largely due to the injuries he's suffered.

But Spurs away!

f*** off. As if those of us who have followed his career since he started are simply reminiscing about that one display.

I take it you were still in nappies or something when he made his debut against Palermo?

At that point he looked like a possible future no.1 for a club challenging in Europe.

His demise has coincided with the demise of the club and I for one feel no embarrassment for my disappointment at his inevitable departure.

Have we only been on a downward trajectory for the 3 seasons Krul has been woeful, like?

Krul has severely benefitted from the bizarre correlation where the longer a player stays out of the team by injury, the better some fans think they are.

He was absolutely garbage for a year and a half before the injury, he was garbage when he went out on loan, nobody has wanted him.

He was declining undeniably, but it's hard to argue the replacements have done a much better job. All our GK options are garbage really, and we may well pay the price big time this season.

Howay man, UB. We almost survived the season we went down with Blob in goal and 2/3 of a season with McClaren at the helm. Yes they are all shit, but it's hardly the deciding factor this time
