littlelunchbox
We don't have Carroll any more though. yeh but we still have Cisse, and Taylor and Colo etc who are suppose to jockey and try to win the ball from set pieces and such.

LFEE
Would have him back here in a heartbeat on footballing ability alone. Expand on this... You must rate him highly I take it?... Good deliveries from corners and set pieces and does a good job on the right or in central midfield while always giving 100% What about the other 3 1/2 year that he was here?... Cajun
It's a lot easier to put in a good cross when you are aiming for a player who will beat any centre back 9 times out of 10. What players do we currently have that would even put up a fight? Barton was a decent player when he actually played but lets not pretend like he was Beckham. How many effective crosses did Barton put it that weren't directed to the lanky Gateshead gobshite? Edit: The Carroll, Barton and Nolan triumvirate was good for half a season because you had the decent crosses, the physically dominant beast and the instinctive 'edge of the box' poacher but the closet we have to any of those now is Dan Gosling and even with his 'prowess' our beast is Mike Williamson

LRD
Rumours he's off to WHU. He plays well with Caroll. Shows what hypocrites Sullivan and Gold are. They said they'd never sign him. That was because of his lengthy ban last season.

jep
Thread necro I know, but my word, we could use someone with his passion right about now. Just rewatched the 4-4 vs Arsenal, and him and Nolan pretty much won us that game. Or point...

DJ_NUFC
Have him back in a heartbeat, if only to see how he'd lay into our current dressing room after that derby performance. We should just have him as a nutcase about the club, yelling at people and 'motivating' them by telling them how shit they've played. We don't even have to play him. We should hire Roy Keane or Paolo Di Canio then. They are free, will work for less money and do the exact same thing. Brilliant suggestion.
DJ_NUFC
Aye, Di Canio can be kept kneeling in the slide-marks he left embedded in our turf the last time he was here, forever reminding us of Pardew's shiteness.
Raconteur
Not that I'm advocating it, but you'd think Do Canio would get a better response from his methods with our depressed professionals than the alcoholic hacks of the dark place...
henke
After the last two derbys i'd have him back a couple of days a year on a consultancy basis.
Guest
People seem to be romanticising about a bloke who when the going got tough, kicked Xabi Alonso and got himself banned, and then tried taking on half of the City team which could have cost QPR their Premier League status a year earlier. No thanks.

As much as he's a nazi and his methods were over the top, it was still a bit refreshing to see someone actually try and make athletes act like athletes and take care of their bodies. No thanks. His reaction after that was shite but he didn't kick Alonso, it was a late tackle.

Tooj
I found the whole Barton love-in at Harperl's testimonial totally dumfounding as well. He barely played for us over how many years he was with us and had what two good spells in his time here? People are only saying they want the likes of him and Nolan back due to Pardew doing a piss poor job of what he's had at his disposal. Moving Nolan on for Cabaye was absolutely the right thing to do from a football perspective, but the manager hasn't been good enough to ensure our style of play has progressed to a level whereby players like Cabaye help us not just win matches but also play a style to match their ability.
