BottledDog
ust watched an interview with Hughton on SSN and I still can't get my head around the substitutuions rule change. Anyone got a scooby why any club would benefit from it?
Dave
Less pressure on the smaller clubs to fill their bench and possibly take on wages they can't quite afford?
AyeDubbleYoo
Whoa! How horrible is the badge on the new Arsenal shirt?! I love it, one of the best features of it. Their new away kit looks really nice in the flesh as well.
BottledDog
Less pressure on the smaller clubs to fill their bench and possibly take on wages they can't quite afford? But as Hughton said himself, there is nothing stopping a manager just bringing in some of the kids for experience. Why bring in a rule that limits a managers choice? Guest ObiChrisKenobi
Appearance fees are triggered even you appear on the bench, think of those League 2 clubs who have just been promoted, and are having to pay out appearance fees for players that won't even get on the pitch. Just because Championship teams are comfortable, doesn't mean all teams in the Football League are with having 7 subs on the bench, however, saying that, I'm not sure why they don't just allow it to be an optional 'up to' 7 seven subs. Though I guess, so clubs would argue it gives 'bigger' clubs an unfair advantage? No idea. Seems crazy.
Village Idiot
I really doubt that the appearance fees of two players make that much of a difference for even the lowliest clubs, when you are already paying 16 players in the squad. And if they do, the club's fucked up already, 5 subs or 7.
Guest Craig-NUFC
Isn't this done in Spain in the Segunda B divisions? Anyway, yeah quite a silly decision. A sensible option could be to have 7 subs, but have 2 of them come from the clubs youth system.
