S'true like. I don't mind TG and the rest of em but I dunno why the likes of them and that Lawrence Alcott fella are held in some sort of high regard when it comes to analysis.

I've warmed to Alcott slightly purely because his interests go beyond the top 6 and generally has some good insight. Him and others (just as we do) all come unstuck when they start making predictions.

It’s easy to criticise them after the fact.

No one before the season started could have known how bad Man U we’re going to be.

James is the best of the bunch though, to the point others use his analysis to create their own videos.

No I agree, like I say we're all guilty of it. We shouldn't do predictions tbh, but we can't resist. I had Rafa turning things around and getting Everton into Europe not that long ago.

I hate it when everyone does those results calculators towards the end of a season. "Pretty sure we'll go down as I went through all the fixtures of the bottom 6 and we get X points, Leeds get y points..."

Mate if you could predict even a quarter of those results correctly you could put a tenner on it and never have to work again but you know full well you can't, so stop doing the football equivalent of trying to interpret your dreams.

They conduct a much higher standard of analysis and debate than mainstream pundits. I really doubt Alan Shearer is on stats analysis websites before MOTD trying to break down what makes a certain team effective against their opponents etc.

Favorite podcast at the moment is The Big Six show. Of all the fan podcasts, this has to be the best. I know a lot of people hate what AFTV represents and what it's spawned but I love it. Not ashamed to say that I watch a lot of their content as well as their affiliates excluding Goldbridge. Just too boring of a bloke for me to get invested in.

Would highly recommend 'Under the Cosh' podcast, had never heard of it until someone on here posted the Steve Howey one (which is brilliant and would highly recommend - Stories about Shearer and Gillespie fight and Tinos porn video haha) . Just listened to the two parter with Bradley Orr and was absolutely fantastic.

Can't even remember him at Newcastle but got a couple of stories from his time here, sounds like Dyer was a right prick when he was younger. His time at Blackburn also interesting.

Will probably work the catalogue of episodes as sounds like there's lots of interesting guests who'll have a good story

I can also recommend the episodes with Andy Woodman and John Beresford.

As well as Si Ferry, Marc Bircham, Danny Mills and Jeff Winter.

Si talks about Thomas Gravesen at Celtic, he was fucking crazy

I’d never heard of that Lee Howey chant until this but it’s absolutely gold.

Saw they were linked with Josh Murphy this week so they’ve got a chance to bring it back.

Beresford pretty much admitted he was a bit of a racist when breaking out into football when younger, but his work for Show Racism The Red Card has been superb.

Cheers I will give the Beresford and Andy Woodman a listen next. Noticed Andy Griffin done one too and going off what Bradley Orr was saying about him that'll be worth a listen. So many to choose from so will start with toon related players then might try ones you mentioned (hate Danny Mills as a pundit but probably have some cracking stories)

Listened to Sonny Pike, Matt Le Tissier and Jeff Winter ones yesterday afternoon, Winter one was very funny, sounds a decent bloke. Always thought the story about him writing in his autobiography about Anfield clapping for him on his final appearance was him genuinely believing that but you can tell he wrote it as a piss take.

Ferry was funny, didn't really like Mills tbh came across as a bit of a nob.

Gary Roberts is another good one if you haven't already listened to it.

I'd really recommend patreon if you don't have it, it's only £2.50 a month.

Under the Cosh reminds me of being on my lunch break at Northern Rock. Surrounded by lads all trying to out-bloke each other in the room of a company that's clearly in the middle of winding down.

Saying that I enjoyed the Bez and Howey episodes. The funny thing about those two though is the more you hear from them, the more their anecdotes change. I must have heard half a dozen different variations on the Tino playing porn on team bus story and each variation of it came from them.

I liked the story Howey tells about an Ardiles training session when we were shite and low on confidence so thought he'd try a practice match with no opposition. We kick off and it gets passed back to Howey who passes it to the keeper but the keeper is behind the goal messing on with his gloves and we concede a goal. He says Ardiles set up this match to get some confidence and we were losing 1-0 already  Ardiles was just there with his head in his hands

Howey and Beresford come across as genuine down to Earth normal blokes who recognised they had something, but were not elite level and seemed to really appreciate their careers and I Imagine in them days it was more akin to a grassroots kids team, a boys club. What a time to be alive for both of them playing in that team and under KK just as the PL was exploding! Howey was very underrated, a footballing CB converted by KK from a CF and Bez was class at LB, so attacking even with Ginola ahead of him, but that’s how KK wanted all his players to play. Get forward, attack!

Favorite Undr the Cosh is Aaron Wilbraham. Some absolute brilliant stories in there. Hadn’t even heard of him as a player but great episode. He’s got a story in there about his former manager(Martin Allen) eating a wine gum out of the toilet that will have you in stitches.

Was quite looking forward to giving Pod on the Tyne another go this week seeing as they had Derek Wright on and I thought he'd probably have a tale or two to tell. Should've known it would be half an hour of 'tell us about when there was a banter'.

Endlessly tedious, that fucking show. I think Caulkin's actually the worst for it now as well.

I listen to it during the season and it's half decent a lot of the time.  But the jokes shared between Caulkin, Waugh and the host are always painfully shite and makes me want to turn it off.

The all with smiling faces podcast/YouTube is canny but more often than not let down by the audio on the podcast.

Imo it’s the best by some distance.

I struggle with the fan podcasts. They always start off well but as soon as they get a decent following it becomes more about their own "fame" than it does about the conversation etc. I just get bored of all the in house jokes. I hate Pod on the Tyne mainly because of the host.
