Two-time World Cup winner Ronaldo has announced he will retire from professional football at the end of next year.

The Brazilian, regarded as one of the best footballers ever, has spent most of his career in Europe but will end it with Corinthians in his homeland.

"I've already made up my mind - these will be my last two," said the striker.

Ronaldo, 33, has scored 62 goals in 97 appearances for Brazil and hopes to be in squad for this summer's World Cup.

Is there a realistic chance he'll make it to the World Cup this Summer? Hope so.

If he doesn't get picked for the W/C squad he may as well have run out for us for a season just to tick the played in England box.

officially retired

SAO PAULO (AFP) – Brazilian football legend Ronaldo, who helped his country to two World Cup trophies and is still the tournament's top scorer, is to retire Monday, Brazilian media reported.

"I can't take any more," the 34-year-old star told the Estado de Sao Paulo newspaper.

"I wanted to continue, but I can't do it any more. I think of an action, but I can't do it the way I want to. It's time."

"It's the body that's hurting me," he told Globo television. "The head wants to go on, but the body can't take any more."
