Re: Opinions on Niall Quinn?

Quinn's attack on the fans and his desperation to keep Bruce in a job despite the fans wishes indicates that he no longer cares about SAFC and he is only in it for the money.

No set of fans has been demonised more by the m(ag)edia than our own and Quinn's shift from a dignified silence on the matter towards actually helping our enemies was one of the most disgraceful incidents in SAFC history.

Nolan just another in a very long line of Newcastle players/staff who are obsessed about finishing above Sunderland.

So far we've had Pardew,Simpson,Nolan,Jonas,Steven Taylor and now Nolan come out and publicly state this is the target and how numerous posters on here mocked when Bruce done the same when he lost it after the 5-1 game.

Is finishing above Sunderland really success for Newcastle?

From beating Barcelona in the Champions League to finishing above Sunderland, how times have changed.

When asked on the possibility of trumping the Wearsiders, United’s derby hero told the Chronicle today: “That would be nice – but we’ve got to look at it in perspective.

“They’ve gone out and spent millions and millions of pounds.

“If we had have had the chance to do that and bring players in, we would have been a bit higher than we are.

“Then you see Steve Bruce saying he’s got to buy seven players in the summer.

““That’s a target (finishing ahead of Sunderland) to make sure we finish the season strongly.

“It’s something we can work on – I don’t see why not.”

certainly seems obsessed like

Speaking of nights like the win over Barca, I was was thinking about the highlights in my lifetime - Beating Barca, beating Man U 5-0, beating our local rivals 5-1, 8-0 against Sheff Wed, the only team to come back from 4-0 in Premier League history, 100 games in Europe, playing at the San Siro, away trips to Frankfurt... Obviously in my 30 years neither of us have won any silverware of note, but what are the highlights over the lifetime of the average Sunderland fan?  Obviously the home defeat to Chelsea on the 24th of May 2009 is probably number one for anyone born since the 80s (with the safc.com match report saying the scenes of Sunderland fans "On cloud nine" after the match were as jubilant as any ever witnessed in the stadium) but what are the others and do any of them not involve the mags?

Well, according to their own media, gordon saving from zat knight, equalising against us and gyan dancing were other highs from this season at least.

Btw, over on rtg, they're on about gervinho refusing a new offer and reckon gyan should have a word with him. Wey aye like, both african, must knaa each other well like...

 I dunno why but I've got this image of Gyan wandering up to Gervinho's door, dead happy because he's going round to convince him to sign for the mackems, only to be greeted with

:tiote:

on the doorstep.

Difference between us and them was that we started only mentioning finishing higher than Sunderland when it became clear we'd be nowhere near Europe and pretty safe from relegation so a little aim after that was local pride.

Bruce made it his target back in November when they were top 6.
