Well at least he's under no illusions of what he is.

I feel for them, if any of them went and did a Barton they would never ever gt an inside scoop again.. The petty twats at the club right now would make sure of it.

Hard to be a local Journo, national press can write what they want

Pardew said new arrivals were needed for everyone’s sake, although he admitted they had lost out in the hunt for Mevlüt Erdinç.

No problems with this so long as they're able to move on to the next target. Alas, I fear we'll be disappointed.

Fucking ridiculous that we spent so much time chasing him anyway. When you think they've had since Jan to plan for a new striker, and given Ba's signing was somewhat opportunistic, it does reinforce what we already knew - these twats don't have foresight. They run the club on a day to day basis.

At least the penny has dropped with Pardew, seems the players and the fans concerns are now his too.

Whether or not he can get what we all want remains to be seen.  He now has to put the pressure on to sign these players, not roll out the same old excuses that players are not interested or available.  What is Carr doing?  This is his job to make suren they are.

Actions speak louder than words. People need to stop listening to this patter merchant. All Pardew has ever done is say what he knows the people want to hear at first, then it doesnt happen he has to edit his opinion.

He knows what will calm the fans so he says it. He's a bullshitter, he has a way with words. When supporters were concerned about Carroll, Nolan, Enrique, Barton, signing strikers and players by certain dates and the Carroll money, Pardew comes out and says what keeps everyone happy or at least quiet. It's like on football manager when you're holding a press conference and you just tick the option that keeps everyone quiet and at bay. He leads the supporters on to keep them calm.

It's about time Pardew delivered on the tosh he comes out with.

Bring back Hughton, he used to say fuck all, the king of professionalism.

Don't understand the point about the Premier League and Twitter. There are millions of social media consultants out there that would give a couple of hours training on twitter for a decent price, and surely the club has communications people that understand twitter (maybe!). Don't understand why the Premier League has to be involved, clubs should sort it themselves.

Any thoughts on Pardew's comments about transfers yesterday Ian?

This, in case you've not seen it: http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,68821.msg3113890.html#msg3113890

Erm, not sure, anything specific you want to know?

Sounds like he's trying to put as much pressure as he can on the terrible twosome to make sure we get another couple of players. Ideally he wouldn't need to, but in the circumstances I don't mind him saying it. Hopefully it works!

Not sure what you were getting at TBH.

Wasn't being funny, just wondered if you're still content to assume everything will be fine. Can you see now why so many people are negative about our prospects when our manager is resorting to public pleading with so little time left before the start of the season and end of the transfer window? And not only that, but openly admitting that the squad are restless because of it?

I don't assume everything will be fine at all. I know we need at least a couple of players, and I'm not 100% confident we'll get them. I do think we've been trying, but obviously we're making it hard for ourselves with our spending limits.

I think our squad as a whole is not as bad as some people think though, that much is true.

Didn't think you were trying to be funny BTW, I just didn't know if I'd answered your question.

Nothing will come in and what could have been a great summer of business has shit the bed.  Think about it: the early signing of Cabaye, Marveaux and Ba put the club in position make a huge step forward if it the club had made the purchases that had to be made.  The club wouldn't have even had to spend all of the Carroll money.  20M would have covered another striker and the cover i think we need on the back line.

It's foolish, it's bad business even, not to maximize the advantage they gained with the three early, shrewd acquisitions by purchasing the quality striker and cover with just a portion of the Carroll money.
