Jaehyun
I think we're demanding too much. Boyd can turn out to be a cheap but quality acquisition and can chip in enough to keep us up. He'll do us good service for the first two years back in the premierleague. We can look to improve later.
mrmojorisin75
Newcastle fans are too impatient for a player like Boyd fuckin hell, how slow is he? sign beckford then
GM
This thread is a total joke. Kris Boyd won't even be signing for Newcastle, so I don't know why you're getting your knickers in a twist about whether he will or won't cut it at Premiership level...even though it's fucking obvious he will...as he'll no doubt go on to prove at Birmingham or Blackburn Rovers. Guest michaelfoster
There you go then, listen to those who've seen both. i've seen enough of Boyd to know he is crap.Dunno what point you are trying to make? wow you have seen both players, well done mate scoring goals against Hamilton and Kilmarnock dosn't make you a great player But scoring goals against Norwich & Swindon do though? Guest michaelfoster
I heard from someone Boyd was at the training ground twice last week on Wed & Thu. His source is someone who works at the club. Hopefully he's not talking crap

Cronky
The game has moved on and a specialist finisher is not as valuable at the top level any more. More is expected of strikers in terms of movement, holding the ball up and creating things for other players. We seem to be getting a bit obsessed about this, that or the other striker and how many goals they've scored, but if you're not creating chances than it's academic. We were quite predictable last season and that needs to be addressed regardless of who fills the forward positions.

It's a bit of a shame really, although that seems the way football is going now, the focus on athleticism over skill is that we are seeing is all wrong IMO. Although you can see why teams are doing it.

Dave
I don't see a problem with getting Boyd. Minimal risk financially, has a proven track record of goalscoring albeit at a lower level and can probably be moved on for a few million should he be shit. Agree with this, if we've got enough money to offer him a weekly wage that is.

Couple of frees like this and 3 good loans would be great considering we are not spending.
Chrisjraby
Taken from Sky Sports: "No Boyd move The 51-year-old also dismissed any links with Rangers striker Kris Boyd, who is set to leave Glasgow in search of a new challenge this summer. But Hughton did not rule out the possibility of moving for the 26-year-old in the future, admitting that he did have admiration for the player, who is a boyhood Newcastle fan. "Kris Boyd is a good player, but I can categorically say that there have been no talks at this stage," Hughton added. "You never want to say 100% no, but it's a non-starter at this moment."
