Dan Gosling

Hard to be concerned about this one - it doesn't really matter to anyone whether he leaves or not. Might be nice to have the wages off the books, but that's about it.

I agree. If Palace don't want to pay the fee then they should be invited to fuck off. Gosling's picked up wages for being injured for a few years here now, one more's not going to make much difference.

Would be a shame if they didn't sign him, any money at all for us & playing time for the lad is the best outcome, still only 23 could become average

Never looked like a decent defender to me. Never.

He's a tidy footballer, pretty quick, good height but what are his strengths? Looked best when deployed a wing-back/winger at Wigan.

This - a right-footed LB who looks good going forward but actually creates very little when supporting the attack. Defensive limitations exposed is several games, Saints at SJP springs to mind..

The top Italian teams rarely make mistakes by selling good players to  English clubs, especially defenders and they weren't happy with Santon as a LB.

Haidara will be a far better player in that position when he has played as often in the PL as Santon has.

Full backs are first and foremost defenders - end of. Attacking skills are a bonus.

Newcastle United’s Dan Gosling has walked out on Crystal Palace without signing - after a remarkable snub by the Premier League new boys.

Midfielder Gosling went through a medical on Monday but waited for final contract talks to happen only for the Eagles to ignore him.

Fuming Gosling headed back to Newcastle United - where he had negotiated a release from his deal - because Palace had behaved so badly.

Boss Ian Holloway, who wants to sign Gosling, was busy preparing the side for a pre-season game at Gillingham on Tuesday.

However other Palace officials failed to contact the player during the day and he left his hotel to return to Tyneside.
