mrmojorisin75
Never realized his early promise - too many off-field issues and clearly disenchanted during the past 2 years although nobody could blame him for that after seeing Cabaye and Ba depart for more ambitious clubs. Not enough goals scored for a m/f player and some silly bookings. Nevertheless, a better player during his early days than Colback will ever be. I think the silly long contract didn't help too. He had made it on the gravy train for a long time, so no need to keep performances at this peak. Another example where the club are always thinking about the balance sheet and potential profit rather than assessing players on an individual basis. If they end up not being good enough, you can't shift them because of the contract e.g. Gouffran and they end up scarcely playing and going on a free. If they are good enough, then it can be a case of a lack of incentive to improve. They should have shorter contracts but under constant review to encourage the players to improve. It's like paying a lower transfer fee but in cash up front. A player offered 50k per week for 5.5 years vs say 60k per week for 3 years is going to take the one that guarantees the most money. Fat Ash knows this, he knows cash on the table is an ultimate money saver. Problem is it's only useful when we're signing good players.
Deuce
Oh aye, now he's leaving some of you suddenly like him. But a few months ago it was insane to suggest he was better than Colback and Anita-_- Mannnnnn, you're crap TCD gobbled up the lion's share of Forum Awards for shiteness, but ol' Liam's been quietly making a run to supplant him as the forum's Chief Constable Peddler of Shite. HawK
Tiote's served his time here, I don't think he's the player he was and he needs to move on.

Guest Howaythetoon
He was very good under Hughton and during the 5th placed season, but injuries and lack of professionalism have meant his career here become nothing to write home about. I personally believe he thought a move to Arsenal or someone was going to happen and when it didn't he become disinterested here. I'm not sure whether we ever priced him out of a move either, maybe we did. In general though he will go down as just another player for us you would think. BeloEmre
From Skysports: It looks as though Chiek Tiote's time on Tyneside is coming to an end. It is our understanding that his £5m move from Newcastle to Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua should be completed in the next 24 hours. So Skysports claims it's £5m, The Shields Gazette claims it's £4m and all other media claims it's £8m

durhamunigeordie
Been a shadow of the player he was in his first year or so with us for a while not, but there is still a part of me sad to see him go. Would liked to have seen how he and Shelvey would have done together, although equally given the existence of Colback chances that that would actually have happened are probably slim. Sho Time
He was a fantastic DM for us in his first 18 month but really tailed off since. It's a shame really as he could still be doing a great job for us now. Bet Ashley is livid he didn't sell him 3 years ago and he'll see this as a £15m loss, so we'll probably suffer for this either at the end of this month of (more likely) in the summer by selling Sissoko/Perez/Wij. Karjala
How many yellow and red cards did he end up with? Glad to see the back of him, should have shifted him when Chelsea were interested awhile back.

Mattoon
Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Exactly, never would have sold him for less than £25m back then, he was a beast with a lot of promise.
Guest
He must have misheard us when we gave him that big contract and Pardew told him 'Stay with us and you'll play in the Far East I promise'.
The College Dropout
How many yellow and red cards did he end up with? Glad to see the back of him, should have shifted him when Chelsea were interested awhile back. Maybe 2 reds. Stevenage, Sunderland - which was harsh imo. Can't remember another but I wouldnt bet against it. Loads of yellows. Probably in the 50's. We've had our fair share of yellow card merchants. Parker, Nolan, Barton, Tiote & Bowyer spring to mind. TaylorJ_01
Between injuries and suspensions we lost Tiote for quite a few games a season. Not ideal, but I loved him, was an absolute beast at the start and still is capable. Just seems to not give a fuck.
