Best midfielder to play for us in 20 years? perhaps ever?

:frantic:

Been party to this madness for 50.

Rob Lee perhaps in his later years when he was used more defensively, though still not quite the same type of player.

Before that Stan Anderson (one for the oldies), though Cheik probably has it.

(Trying not to be an old bore here, you'll appreciate!)

Can't really recall such a dominating midfield presence, defensively, as Tiote.

His taking of the ball on the half-turn and his distribution remind me a lot of Scholes (evidence of latter below in unsightly, large picture. Tiote on top, Scholes the left and centre of the bottom row). It wouldn't surprise me if Ferguson interested in him as a replacement for Carrick ((the old new-Scholes) as seen below, bottom right, giving the ball away too often).

"On the 7th day, Tiote played football for Newcastle."

It's not fair to compare Tiote and Scholes. First of all, the former is God whilst the latter is a f***** cretin who would have been banned from any kind of reproduction activities  if it wasn't for the fact that he's a footballer. Second Tiote plays for a weaker team, and he has Nolan as his partner. That requires much more from Tiote, because Nolan (unlike most other offensive midfielders) is not a participating to a large degree in the build up play.  Manure's wingers is also more in motion and most team sit deep against them, making it easier for Scholes to find alternatives. Conclusion, if you've put Scholes in our team, he would collapse like a card house.
