Guest palnese
Probably that contract extension clause? Of course he knew about it if that's the truth.
bhoywhonder
Awful news. All the best Jonas. Dont use this as point-scoring against the regime. Not on this thread anyway.
Belfast Mags
Horrible news Really hope everything works out for the best. What an unbelieveable situation
Village Idiot
What's this about? Is this on the article? @KHeneage: The caption on one article reporting of Jonas' situation claims #NUFC didn't want anything to do with it. If that's true, I'm speechless. In the interview Jonás says that it was his decision. He indeed says the club didn't pay a dime, but Jonás says that he "doesn't care about that" (he doesn't seem angry or anything). Imho it looks to me that he wanted to get as few "outer" people involved in it as possible, since he only told very few people about his sickness until this interview. BONTEMPI
I think he needs all the support possible and he does not need to be dragged into the fans vs club debate as we don't know the full facts. He's a great bloke and hope he makes a speedy recovery. Lets just keep the protests for the crappy football and ownership reasons.

nufcjb
Horrible to hear this. Jonas was probably one of the players who genuinely truly loved the club and fans up here like HBA. Couldn't happen to a nicer bloke at our monster club. Hope someone gets banners done for Saturday. Owh yeah, fuck off Pardew!
Mike
@HEGS_com: Returned late November, and in mid December Pardew told him he'd be better off finding another club, which surprised him. I've decided to just assume there's a less fucked up explanation here.
Village Idiot
Honestly, the Argie journo tries a couple times to fish for controversy regarding Newcastle's part in this, and Jonás doesn't bite. So either there's none or Jonás is being a gent. I'm fine with either.
Dave
Unless Jonas comes out and says something himself, I don't think there's anything much to criticise the club for here. Not at this point anyway. Seems it was kept quiet by everyone which is perfectly understandable. How he was treated as a player is obviously completely separate. Chris_R
Get well soon Jonas. Always worked his socks off for the club on the pitch, and seems a top guy. Really hope this works out well for him.

Hell I'm rather impressed it was kept quiet until he said it himself normally this thing tends to find its way out somehow.
WarrenBartonCentrePartin
My story of him being a good guy: I was working in Primark in town about 18 months ago while I finished my Masters. He came in on a couple of occasions, each time spending about £500 (think how many items that was given Primark's prices). One of my colleagues plucked up the courage to ask what he was doing with it all. He said it was all being sent back to Argentina to kit out friends, family and neighbours in the area he grew up in. toontownman
Good god what horrible news to come home to. Straight up disgusting if the club hasn't covered some if not all of his fees likr he says. Absolutely gutted about this news and wish Jonas a speedy recovery. Picture of him losing his hair made me well up. Poor guy.
Vinny Green Balls
Wish him all the best. always seemed like a genuinely decent and happy go lucky guy. good news is that even if it has spread to distant areas, there is still around a 75% 5-year survival rate. his chances are very good.
