Shane Ferguson joins Millwall on a permanent deal

Recommended Posts

Hopefully Pardew has the balls to drop Gutierrez so he might actually realise he isn't a guaranteed starter for us whether he hs been a stand in captain or not. He puts the effort in fair play but he doesn't add enough to our midfield. Ferguson is something very simple but effective, he should definitely be given a chance as he will scare defences and allow ba/cisse to attack crosses with pace instead of the s*** flat crosses they're getting at the minute.

Don't care if he's a 'nobody' so to speak, his past two sub appearances have shown he has a great delivery on him. Could lead us to scoring out of next to nothing and completely change a game.

Equal top assists for the team in the league with...one. Needs to start left wing just to get the ball in the box.

Ben Arfa has two.

one of them being assist of the season

What was the other one?

Winning a penalty presumably, although that gives him an assist for his own goal.

Guest optimistic nit

how about

Santon - Colo -  Taylor - Perch

HBA - Anita - Tiote - Fergie

Cisse - Ba

when attacking (especially counter attacking)  hatem can cut in with santon acting as an attacking wingback to provide natural width on both sides, while anita holds back to protect the right flank from the counter. There is also a lot of natural flexibility there, with Perch, Anita, Fergie and Santon all able to play in multiple positions, meaning we can make effective changes without needing substitutions.

Its going to be really depressing watching Simpson start at right back when we all know we'd be much better off with Fergie at left back and Santon right back.

Simpson did well today (but who didn't) tbf.

That said, Santon (RB) and Ferguson (LB) would be much better long-term. Simpson had to return from injury now

The silver lining is that Ferguson should at least regularly have a place on the bench, and be someone who can come on to change things for us :)

Still not convinced about him defensively, especially in the Premier League where his opponents will be ten times as physical and aggressive than tonight. He did well in some situations you wouldn't have necessarily expected him to though. He's a real attacking threat and it's great to see some quality being delivered into the box.

I don't see us playing him at LB with Santon moving over to the right in the league. He's behind Santon for LB who is behind Simpson for RB.

I get the feeling he might be a bit one dimensional to play left midfield. He may get found out a bit like McClean at Sunderland.

He'd be a nightmare to track for any right winger in the left though.

His run at Stoke shows that he can produce a trick or two.
