What is going to happen is that Blatter is going to strip Qatar of the competition, point out that he never wanted them to have it, and lap up the praise as the rescuing hero.

Whatever happens, Sepp always wins.

yep and as a bonus gets to finish off Platini before he can even challenge his dictatorship. If he weren't so despicable I'd admire such brilliant political thinking.

To be fair to Sepp I don't think he ever did want Qatar to win

I had to stop the car to puke yesterday when Cameron came on the radio praising himself, Beckham and the royal prince while criticising the nasty foreigners for giving the 2022 world cup to someone else.

Yes there is plenty of money and resources  in English football, it is all concentrated at the top in foreign players and agents pockets.

If you are one of the thousands of volunteers  who run  football in this country at grassroots level, You will know that there is no money for you other than what you can fund raise and the local county FA will only have contact with you to take much of what little money you can raise off you in charges, fees and fines etc.

Meanwhile there are less facilities and fewer kids taking up the game than ever before.

Football perfectly mirrors the rest of society in this country. All the gain at the top of the pyramid, all the pain at the bottom.

The FIFA delegates chose another country because they could probably see our structure for what it is, a rotten structure benefiting the few.

A bid led by the privileged elite of an Old Etonian prime minister, the Royal prince and brand Beckham were not surprisingly blind to it.

We were never in the race for 2022 were we?

I know this is nothing but a pipe dream, but how viable would it be for nations to pull together and stage an 'alternative' World Cup in protest? FIFA can't punish every country if they stick together, surely?

Probably too much money and vested interests involved in the bigger footballing nations for that to happen. The UEFA president has his eyes on the FIFA presidency too.

Nice idea but you now how it'd go down. Everyone would pull together in the same direction to get the alternative WC going somewhere decent like the USA, then two days before kick off NUST would announce it's going to be in Canada.

Said something ages back more basic than this - all that needed to happen was the major European nations get together and tell FIFA they're not moving their calendars to accommodate this WC and they're not playing in 50 degree heat, so we'll sit it out thanks very much. Would all have been sorted the moment that happened.

So they chose Qatar and Russia??!!

No, I agree completely with the rest of your post about the English structure, but FIFA couldn't give a f*** about it.

Mr Clinton, the honorary chairman of the US bid, had wheeled out such big-hitters as Brad Pitt, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Morgan Freeman and Spike Lee to add lustre to the US Soccer Federation bid.

God was part of their bid and they still lost, no wonder he was pissed

I'm talking about Bradd pitt of course, Morgan Freeman can piss off  :coolsmiley:

The investigation by panorama put pay to that

A lot of the commentary pointing out how bent this was focuses on the fact Qatar is completely incapable of hosting the event, has a climate which is on the gas mark scale and builds stadiums by throwing corpses at them until they're done, but let's not forget they fought off rival bids from the likes of Japan, whose proposals included projecting 3D holograms of the games onto pitches in stadiums around the world using fucking magic

They also beat very good and realistic proposals from the likes of the USA, and Australia.

Sony, Adidas and Visa have all released statements calling Fifa to take action against the corruption allegations.

The sponsors are just trying to make it so their name isn't associated with it in future and possibly trying to leverage better deals in future.

Fifa president Sepp Blatter claims allegations surrounding the Qatar 2022 World Cup bid are motivated by racism.

Qatar was chosen as host in December 2010 but corruption claims have prompted Fifa to begin an inquiry.

"There is a sort of storm against Fifa relating to the Qatar World Cup," Blatter said. "Sadly there's a great deal of discrimination and racism."

Fifa will rule on the validity of the bidding for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups in September or October.

At that point, the president of football's world governing body said, the "matter will be closed".

Speaking to African football officials in Sao Paulo, Blatter confirmed that the latest allegations  would be discussed at the Fifa Congress on Tuesday and Wednesday.

He said Fifa needed to combat "anything that smacks of discrimination and racism".

"It really makes me sad," he added.

Glad that's been cleared up Sepp.
