cubaricho
Josh McDaniels and Chris Hughton sacked on the same day. Weird. Although not as out of the blue as Hughton, I still didn't really expect it - especially with the American sports landscape and how much time managers/coaches usually get because there is no relegation. Up against it from the outset due to the Cutler and Marshall drama. Hillis excelling in Cleveland didn't help too. Sucks.
Ameritoon
Josh McDaniels and Chris Hughton sacked on the same day. Weird. My dad mentioned this to me. Odd he made the connection as he doesn't really follow Newcastle or the sport, not nearly as much as me at least.
TaylorJ_01
Come on, we're all pissed off the day's events. Bit of positivity. Oh aye 'Ronaldo is going to Naples' yaaaay I'm f***ing delighted now. Jealous, now.

Kaizero
Even Rioferdy is angered: "Chris Hughton at Newcastle: steadied the ship. got them out of the Championship into the PL. they are 11th and doing well. Helped get Carroll an England cap+Barton playing well. Team spirit. Deserves the sack after that list?!"

thomas
Anyone want to put together a slow mo montage of Hughton clips with a backing track of I Dreamed A Dream from Les Mes? It keeps running through my mind.

Ridman
The latest betfair odds: Pardew 2.24 Jol 3 Curbishley 11.5 O´Neill 11.5 Ray Wilkins 17 . . . Souness 400 How funny would it be if Ashley appointed Souness like?
Parky
The only way this can be justifyied is if someone significantly better is coming in.
Ronaldo
Ray Wilkins. One of my first memories of SJP is us getting beat 2-1 by QPR in 93-94 and him absolutely pulling the strings in midfield. Great assist for the winner, too.
alpal78
The sort of over reaction is this thread is ridiculous. Wanting someone to have a heart attack, not supporting the new manager without knowing who it is....etc. Yes Hughton was a nice guy and we owe him for getting us out of the championship, but I'll wait to see who we appoint before creating drama. The decision to sack was perhaps premature, in an ideal world Chris would have been given till Jan to turn things around. But with the matches coming up, the players looking disinterested, my prediction is that he would not have succeeded anyway.

TaylorJ_01
There's possibly a reason they looked disinterested. A Hughton-based reason.
Wullie
this doesnt make good reading, apparently ashley and llambias regard themselves as football gurus http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Why-Chris-Hughton-was-sacked-by-Newcastle-Forced-to-play-fantasy-football-with-Mike-Ashley-not-deemed-showbiz-enough-expected-to-talk-tactics-with-chairmen-article645857.html Goes along with what Golfmag said, goes along with the fact this is clearly not based on results, sounds about right. alpal78
There's possibly a reason they looked disinterested. A Hughton-based reason. If we go by Campbell's quotes, the players got the news after and not before the game. Nobody knows for sure what happened with the West Brom game, but not only were the performance bad (both tactically and individual application), crucially gone were the spirit and fight that was shown against Chelsea. That's disheartening - as I read the article I was thinking it must be tabloid shit and that surely it can't be as bad as the Mirror painted the situation I feel like I've been smacked with a wet fish, waking up to this news totally stunned me. This is worse than getting pasted in the cricket - at least that was expected...
BlueStar
If the players think pedro had a hand in Chris going, are they even going to play for him against the bindippers?
