Yorkie
Sensible decisions made with a vaguely attacking agenda are such a refreshing change that it's conned me into thinking he might be an alright manager. He's probably just better than Pardew, though. That said, although the reasons and motivations behind getting the gig are almost enough for me to jack it in altogether - trying to make the best of the situation - if he keeps media bullshitting to a minimum and continues to set the team up in that manner, the rest of the season might be bearable. Yorkie
I still wouldn't be starting him, like, but if the new manager works on trying to recapture some of his attacking abilities, I wouldn't have too many problems with him being in the squad for now. He did look a good player at one point. Said this after Southampton and today's game only reaffirmed that. There's a useful player there somewhere and I'm pleased by Carver's use of him so far. oldtype
If he wants to at least try to reconcile with the fans, he needs to issue a formal apology for his embarrassing conduct earlier this season. Until then he's a blight on this club regardless of results.
merlin
If he wants to at least try to reconcile with the fans, he needs to issue a formal apology for his embarrassing conduct earlier this season. Until then he's a blight on this club regardless of results. Agree with this - he was out of order, completely so...however, credit where it's due for yesterday's performance and mainly for the emphasis put on sensible attack and pass-and-move style - movement off the ball was badly lacking under Pardew and there were always plenty of options for the player with the ball yesterday due to his colleagues making space to receive a pass. The side has obvious weaknesses, CF and CD being two areas badly needing new blood, but under Ashley its always going to be make and mend.
ExiledGeordie
Putting aside the obvious fact that we all know he's an idiot at least there seems to be a bit more attacking impetus and movement now. He's clearly had a positive effect on the likes of Cabella, playing him to his strengths rather than simply sticking him out on the wing.

Dokko
Carver talking about the dead watching over him again this time it's his parents. That ghostly dug out gets fuller every week. Lots of people looking down on him from above it seems. It reminds me of 'Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King'. Carver has an army of the dead on his side. http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20140427132305/lotr/images/9/97/Aragorn_and_army_of_dead.jpg He's big and rough and a bit of a charver, His face resembles solidified lava, He's here forever and wears lynx java It's johnny, johnny carver. Mate at the match said he milked the applause so much it became a bit awkward.
sempuki
He must specialise in 3-0 victories - his only other win for us was the same score years ago. Hope it continues against the Mackems.
Guest thenorthumbrian
Hopefully Carver will get the best out of our skilful players like he did at Hull. This is something Pardew never achieved.
KaKa
Okay ... so yesterday was fun, but we really didn't play decent football at all. Good result though. Mostly down to Hull being very generous.
Elliottman
Okay ... so yesterday was fun, but we really didn't play decent football at all. Good result though. Mostly down to Hull being very generous. We played some decent stuff in spells, couple of nice counter attacks. Can do better though for sure. Consortium of one
Yesterday's win had nothing to do with Carver. Hull were poor and didn't take their chances early. The Hull defenders gave us the ball and then cleared away so we could get a decent shot on goal. I'm shocked that Bruce wasn't fired and escorted off the field before the game was over. Yorkie
Okay ... so yesterday was fun, but we really didn't play decent football at all. Good result though. Mostly down to Hull being very generous. I'm trying to stay as glass-half-full as possible, so I'm not going to say anything negative about a 3-0 victory away from home. I want to give Carver a clean slate (I think others should try to, too, for their own sanity, difficult though it would be). That's a very promising game and I badly want another six points from the next two games.

Are we completely disregarding his pathetic show in the cup? 4 mysterious injuries and all Carver can fuck off, yesterday was more luck than judgement. All of our goals came from outside the area ffs, does anyone remember us actually creating anything?
The College Dropout
There's always a Hull-like team around the corner in this division.
Yorkie
I'm tired of constantly hating everything, is all. Carver obviously Pardewed the cup but he set us up well yesterday for a convincing away win. I'm going to take the positives out of that, for now. There was nothing lucky about it, either, we were comfortably the better side even if we let a shit Hull side make a couple of chance.
Village Idiot
I didn't watch the game but the highlights they showed in Spain made Krul look one of the better players. Not that great a sign. Still, Carver is certainly more positive than Pardew. That alone is nice enough to go by.
Ronaldo
I didn't watch the game but the highlights they showed in Spain made Krul look one of the better players. Not that great a sign. As I said, I didn't watch the game, but whoscored has Krul with 7 saves, which is a lot more than your average.
