ujpest doza
I can go along with this. I feel he's slightly overrated on here. I think he's okay but nowhere near as good as he is described on here.
Hughesy
Huge amount of potential and hasn't really been given a decent run in the side. Pretty much our only midfielder who is capable of passing the ball quickly rather holding up play. Hope we either put a huge sell-on percentage clause in the sale or a price to buy him back. Sho Time
I've never been able to understand why he's so highly regarded here. He arrived as a young lad with a lot of potential but really only ever had about 2 months of good football for us. He's not a better player than any of our main options at CM (Colback, Anita, Tiote, Wijnaldum) so it's always baffled me how so many people say he should be a starter - he's a championship player at best and that's about as good as he'll ever be IMO. AyeDubbleYoo
Unless Tiote recovers form, he's also our only capable defensive midfielder.
joeyt
he had great games against City and Liverpool and was banished to the bench for the majority of the rest of the season

Unbelievable
One of those who, by McClaren's words, could do with a chance before unloading. Probably a victim as we can't shift any of the other turd we have. Ah well, at least the likes of Williamson, Gouffran and Obertan got a fair crack of the whip and look like they will be involved plenty this season. I'm not one to go hunting down quotes but that appears to be the general consensus. On your post on the last page you did say worth of a place in the first team squad, by that I'm not sure if you meant the actual 25-man squad or starting XI. Unbelievable
Unless Tiote recovers form, he's also our only capable defensive midfielder. This is it like. People can point to Colback, Anita, Wijnaldum and Sissoko all being better (which I don't agree with, but that's beside the point), but none of them are effective as a defensive midfielder breaking up play and imposing themselves against physically strong teams. Add to that Abeid was originally an attacking midfield player whose passing isn't too shabby either, and what you have imo is a specialist who, in that position, is better than anything else we currently have for that particular position, which just happens to be a crucial position if you want to play more attacking formations like a 433/451/4231. Probably sell him for a pittance too, so what even is the point?

Nah, not having this like. He is miles better than Colback in a central defensive role. Much more imposing and confident on the ball and has a rhythm to his passing that Colback doesn't. He's also been calmer than Tiote in the games he played. Abeid never got a fair run in the side but the potential he showed in that run of matches was enough for many to see that he could have been a very good midfielder in the PL. Darth Crooks
Fucking hell. Tiote, obertan and gouffran all moe deserving then eh? I know they are different positions but it's not the dead wood being peddled.
Newcastle Fan
Would be an extremely bad move but we are the club that got rid of Ben Arfa for free and sold Mbiwa to be a starter in Roma and kept Williamson instead.

Unbelievable
If we had kept Ben Arfa, Santon, Yanga-Mbiwa (and Abeid?) rather than get rid for pennies and added to it what we have we would have one hell of a squad to go into the new season. As it is, it's one step forward then one step back.

He's only had about 2 months of football full stop. He hasn't played football even in a terrible side such as ours under any managers whether it be Pardew, Charver (not that that counts for much) or McClaren and he's off to a fucking 4th division German side - if he was that good and there was potential there then other, better clubs would be looking at him, even as a cut-price option. As I've said, even Perch and Williamson had their spells when they looked fantastic, so did this lad but the reality is he isn't and never will be good enough. I really don't rate him, but I'd still have him ahead of Gouffran - but that's about the best I can give him.

Nicky
4th division? 2nd division. My earlier post may have confused - they're playing a cup game against a 4th division side.
