Guest ObiChrisKenobi
Spurs got the upper hand on anything we are trying to get at the same time, nice thing is that we are looking for players on that level at least. If we are lucky one or two of these kind of players want to come to us instead of other top 7 clubs for various reason. Still can see us losing out on players who want to be at a club going in to Europe, seems to be the way things work these days. Our stadium really is a selling point. We might not think so, or overly appreciate the size of SJP, but when you talk to outsiders who come in they always talk about how big the stadium is compared to others. Interestingly enough I heard it mentioned yesterday in comparison to White Heart Lane! Best transfer moves we've made since that bid for Modric. What an exciting side we'll put out if we get those two. Aye, and we know how that ended. Thought Modric's wife wanted to live in London? Unless Wise started to tell her how class London was. The story I've heard is that we had the deal more or less done but since the club was being ran from London we dragged him and his agent down their to finalise the transfer. The club left him at Grosvenor House hotel overnight so his agent chanced his arm by contacting some clubs in London and he fucked off to talk to Spurs. Haha the story I heard was he was shown around the training ground, shown around the Stadium and he loved it, but his Wife didn't like Newcastle (the city) and wanted to live in Newcastle. Suppose it doesn't matter now as that was years ago. Still a cracking player though, too good for us or Tottenham really. I heard that exact story from a journalist about Pablo Aimar. Him and his wife had a stand up argument in front of Ashley and Wise because she didn't want to move to Newcastle Awesome isn't it.
GeordieDazzler
Wolves have just secured promotion? What a badly written article. Lucky for us that the Metros track record is akin to Tribal and Caught offside. Just a month ago we were signing Cavani.
Frazzle
Highly doubt either of these players will be willing to join clubs without European football. Sad to see people getting so excited after 'articles' from the Journal and RMC Sport ... If everyone waited for articles on the official site things would be a bit boring. WarrenBartonCentrePartin
if the Journal are calling him a winger, and reckon he and Pardew agreed to meet, is this likely to be the international midfielder playing in the continent he hoped to have tied up soon? BottledDog
Kevin Gameiro and Gervinho targets for Tottenham double swoop Tottenham are closing in on a double swoop for Lorient striker Kevin Gameiro, and Lille winger Gervinho. Gameiro, who scored 19 times in Ligue 1 last season, is a target for both Spurs and Arsenal, but its Harry Redknapp who is preparing the first move for the 24-year-old ace. Ivory Coast international Gervinho has also been interesting both north London rivals, and it seems Spurs again are set to act early in a bid to steal a march on the Gunners. To fund the moves, David Bentley could be shipped off to Fulham, Wolves will sign Jaime O’Hara on a permanent deal after securing promotion, and Newcastle are interested in Irish misfit Robbie Keane. The manager does, though, want to keep Carlo Cudicini and Jonathan Woodgate, whose current contracts are set to expire. He will offer Cudicini one more year and Woodgate, who has chronic injury problems, a pay as you play deal. Guest kingdawson
I can't see why we're interested in Gameiro tbh. He's exactly the sort of striker we don't need.

mattypnufc
The thing is, and I know it's been a while, but Newcastle are still a well known name in Europe. Our treatment of Ben Arfa has got some very good press over in France, with that coupled with the added bonus of having Tiote, native french speaker, who could put in a good word with Gervinho, good stadium, good fans, it's not impossible for players to forfeit the relativly pish standards of French football to come to a team who may challenge the top ten in England next season. People forget the draw of even featuring in the premier league has to players in comparison to Ligue 1.

The Tiote and Ben Arfa connection is what's giving me an unreasonable level of hope about these deals. Fully prepared for them both to sign for someone else like, there are just as many reasons why they won't come here.

Skirge
Surely Spuds would have to ship out first, likes of Lennon, Defoe & Crouch... we are acting quickly to try and gain the advantage. Also any fast deals helps with current contract talks, droopy face can fk off and die he aint beating us to signings not this time.

The second there's a negative rumour story, you write like it's gospel truth High horse? Gervinho - The French league champions' most effective player, has said that he'd only leave Lille for another Champions League club. Gameiro - Has said he wants to go to Spain, placing preference on Valencia and Villareal, who guess what, have both qualified for the Champions League. Would either of these players fit into our current wage structure? Call it negativity, it's common sense man.
