Nearly got into a fight with some dickhead who shouted 'f*** off and don't come back, ya s****' when he was substituted today. Incredible.

He was never going to look particularly impressive today.

Hate wankers like that. Reminds me of a guy who hated Hugo Viana , "fucking Pele here , fuck off"

Unbelievable. He was far from shocking today like, knackered by the end of the second half but nice and tidy on the ball. Some people man.

Why would you get so upset at someone who was obviously a moron?

He'll need a few months to get up to speed with our league but looks like a player. Arsenal today followed by the derby is a bit of a baptism of fire for him and we don't need him blowing out of his arse after 70 minutes next week. That said we won't be chasing the ball as much as Sunderland don't keep it as well as Arsenal do.

Some nice moments. Needs to be utilised better by the manager in a clearer system.

Until half-time, I wasn't sure what Pardew's plan was for our midfield. Both Tiote and Cabaye were sitting deep. Even after the break, both were reluctant to advance up the pitch.

Still optimistic.

I thought that Cabaye did enough to show that he could be a very good player for us.  You could see that he's got an eye for a good pass, if only we'd had more movement up front today.

Fuck's sake. Some of our 'supporters' make me want to weep tears of blood.

Doesn't help that he and Tiote haven't played together, and that Cabaye seemed to be playing the holding role in pre-season despite Pardew telling all and sundry he'd be more advanced. Partnership needs time to gel, that's why pre-season was such a joke.

Predictably not overly impressive but nor worrying either.

It might be that he just needs time to adapt to the pace of the Premiership but he doesn't seem to have a great engine on him. Joey picked up a lot of his slack but he may just need extra fitness.

Kept possession well and got better as the game went on. Having Shola upfront doesn't really help. Definitely think we should play with a 3 man midfield.

Clearly has a touch of class and vision in centre mid we haven't seen for a long while. Decent enough debut, can only get better.

This. We were less creative (we hardly were anyway) when he came off

I thought Cabaye was poor today, but as others have said, the excuse we had for a pre season could explain the lack of cohesion in the middle of the park. He needs to work on his strength though, that's my biggest worry, he's a little lightweight for this league. You can be lightweight and effective in the PL,, players like Benyoun (sp?) show us that, but you got to work out what they do to compensate for that lightness, couple of times today Cabaye got in good positions only to be muscled off the ball.

Still have a lot of hope that he'll adapt, if we had had a proper pre season him and the likes of Ba could be working on adapting to the club/PL but unfortunately now we have to do it in real games.
