I'm guessing the agreement was only in place if we got a bid above a certain level.

Kinnear may have thought that that lever wouldn't be reached by Arsenal this window, and PSG were not serious until they got an injury. If that's the case I'd put it more down to Kinnears stupidity than anything particularly damming.

You're not called William Joyce, are you?

Can we close this now ??  :(

No, we don't lock player threads just because they sign for someone else.

Very sad to see him leave, but it's been coming. Disappointed we couldn't get more money out of PSG as well, another £5m could be the difference between landing Grenier or not.

Admitted to being disappointed to not have left for Arsenal in the summer...

Not so nice. :thdn:

Agreed, did say he respected the decision though and that's the transfer market. Sometimes player wants to leave and clubs don't want to let him go. Got to give him credit though, he busted his ass these last months for the club and without him we'd probably never be in the top half.

Yeah, thought we did well at the time, and he went on to do well by us when he returned.

It's not often I have admiration for a player when he leaves (especially one that stopped playing for a while) but I have a great deal of time and respect for Cabaye.

/not sure I'd be so blasé if he ended up at Arsenal/Manu though.

@lee_ryder: Cabaye: "Newcastle respected the agreement we had to allow me to leave this January" #nufc

f***ing Kinnear and his outright lies, Should he taken to task

I'm pretty sure Cabaye has been quoted saying he is here until the end of the season.

He meant autumn.

Pretty damning if true

JFK simply should have shut his fucking mouth when asked that question unless they were genuinely not prepared to let anyone significant leave, which they obviously weren't.

Nasser E-K

"He hasn't been easy for Cabaye to leave his former club"

I'm sure the millions in extra wages per year will get will help him sleep a bit easier.

is that even possible given their tax structure?
