Demba Ba (now retired)

Good luck with ya medical Demba, he fails that what would he do then?

Chelsea are rich enough to take the gamble.  Can't see that even being an issue.  £7mil for a player who's a proven goal scorer is an absolute steal.

Would be quite funny if there were problems with the medical, though.

Still can't really get it how there were that massive problems at Stoke and yet he almost played every game for us in his time here.

with no transfer fee and small wages there's less to lose.

i thought the problem wasn't an injury but his inability to recover from certain sorts of injury should they happen.

Yeah, sure. But why didn't Stoke take that risk? It's not that he was on massive wages here and it's not that they have the worlds greatest strikers. (Ok, with Crouch and Owen they actually have)

stoke would've been buying him from hoffenheim wouldn't they ? big fee involved.

it wasn't just stoke either, he also failed a medical to scupper a move to stuttgart.

Aye was £6m which at the time would've been in/around their record buy.

I'm assuming this is what Sammy was referring to anyway...

@Sammy_Ameobi: Uh oh

:undecided:

Got to wonder what some of the bigger pros are going to think- the likes of Krul, Colo, Ben Arfa, Cabaye.

Well, we are losing a brilliant striker and definitely one of the best in the league :(

That's my biggest worry about him leaving tbh.

Indeed - from what I've read he's a popular player in the dressing room.  Just need to bring in a quality replacement - someone who can compliment Cisse.

I think we should follow the Spurs route and not the Arsenal route. They've lost key players, nearly every year. Carrick, Berbatov & Modric off the top of my head. But they've replaced them straight away and are stronger than they've ever been. We sell Demba and bring in Remy & Debuchy and the players' think we are a serious outfit.

It would be a problem if he was sold to QPR though. Any team not in the top 3, can have their pick of the PL players' pretty much and everyone accepts that. It's sad but the fact that if you play well for N'castle and go to Chelsea is probably a benefit to prospective transfer targets.

Remy is #1 target for #nufc. Been told he wants to come; presence of Debuchy increases chances of deal. Takes on increased urgency now.

No loyalty to the club who took a risk on him. Thanks BA, tonight is Cisse's night to get back on form and show Ba we don't need him.

Guest Eggenberger

Also the lack of ambition shown by the club in the summer might not have helped things in convincing him we can meet his career aspirations medium term.

I would laugh my arse off if we sold Ba and then went and signed Debuchy, Remy and a CB.

Wouldn't be the first time we had done it either, when Enrique left and accused us of lacking ambition we signed Ba, Marveaux, Obertan, Santon, Cabaye etc etc.

Seems we have to sell players before we start getting off our arse

Laugh your arse off that we lose Ba?

That laugh might quickly turn into a proper choke cough as we are losing the one player who have kept us out of the bottom-3.

Cant see this improving things in the dressing room either.

Very bad news losing Demba, and not good in terms of keeping our other big guns either. A good player is leaving us - clause or not.

£7m plus how much to his advisers plus how much over the course of his contract?  Could easily be £30-£35m in total with no insurance if he fails the medical.  They may take the risk, who knows.

They were paying £9.5M for him and Pulis said they'd have signed him on a free but not for £9.5M due to his medical.

If he wasn't on a free transfer we wouldn't have signed him in the first place.
