Hanshithispantz
We weren't far off 8th place last season, that been said, theres a pretty big gulf in class from about 7th onwards. EDIT: So basicaly about 9th-8th
David28
We weren't far off 8th place last season, that been said, theres a pretty big gulf in class from about 7th onwards. Even that was very much reachable for us for a long time during the season. Of course, once Liverpool started to collect points it wasn't a possibility anymore. But, just think about that we've given points away last season against clubs like Blackpool, Stoke, Fulham or Blackburn. Next season, we should aim to win against those 'small' teams (at least at home) while keeping our good form against the very big sides in the league. Begbie
Squad based on wikipedia: Goalkeepers: Harper, Krul, Forster Right Back: Simpsons, R Taylor Left back: Enrique Central def: Williamson, Taylor ,Coloccini Right wing: Barton Central Mid: Tiote, Cabaye Left Wing: Jonas/Marveux/Ben Arfa Strikers: Ba, Ameobi, Best Youngsters worth keeping imo, and should be loaned out: LuaLua, Kadar, Vuckic, Ferguson, Donaldson, Sammy Ameobi, and Ranger Get rid: Guthrie, Routledge(not rated by Pardew), Perch, Smith, and Xisco In our back line we need a cover for Enrique if he stays and a central defender. Think R.Taylor is a ok backup on the right side, and we can also put S.Taylor there. Midfield I think we need a backup for Barton, think maybe Jonas can play there? I think we need backups for Tiote and Cabaye. Vuckic can be a backup, but I feel it would be better to loan him out to gain some first team experience. Strikers I feel like Demba Ba is the only striker we have. Ameobi is to much injured and Best have not showed enough yet.
Sifu
As it stands... GK - Krul RB - Simpson LB - Enrique CB - Coloccini CB - Taylor RM - Barton LM - Marveaux/Jonas CM - Tiote CM - Cabaye AM - Ben Arfa CF - Ba I'd go along with that.
Guest BlacknWhiteArmy
4-3-3 with Tiote, Barton and Cabaye- Jonas, Ben Arfa and Ba up front.
Colocho
Gutierrez has started more league games in the last two seasons, than Marveaux has in his last five.
Guest firetotheworks
Mine would be the one below and I'd expect it to finish anywhere between 7th and 13th at the moment. Krul Simpson Williamson Coloccini Enrique Barton Tiote Cabaye Jonas Ben Arfa Ba Subs: Harper Taylor Marveaux Best Ameobi

eliassenfredrik
Bench going back down to 5 places? Hah, wasn't sure, just went by the previous poster. But with 7, add Guthrie and Fergie to the bench.
SEMTEX
Krul Simpson Colo Williamson Enrique Barton Tiote Cabaye Jonas Ben Arfa Ba Bench: Forster Saylor Raylor Gosling Marveaux Best Ameobi Wingers would rotate with Marveaux, or he'd come in for a more attacking option, replacing a CM and putting Ben Arfa in a attacking centre mid position. Plus, Marveaux's injury record keeps me from putting him as a starting XI member. I don't think there's anything all that controversial there. AyeDubbleYoo
Pleased to see someone preferring Williamson, still don't know whether him or Taylor is the better option TBH.
Cajun
I'd probably put Ferguson in for Raylor but looks good.
AyeDubbleYoo
Gutierrez has started more league games in the last two seasons, than Marveaux has in his last five. For me Marveaux is very much an unknown quantity in terms of quality and fitness. I would definitely put Jonas in my provisional lineup until I've seen more of him. SEMTEX
I'd probably put Ferguson in for Raylor but looks good. Aye, was considered. Only reason I didn't is because I would prefer to see Ferguson on LW, and I wanted another defender on the bench. Either would be good in reality. Pleased to see someone preferring Williamson, still don't know whether him or Taylor is the better option TBH. I prefer him, and he's settled in the team as far as I'm concerned. But again, another thing that would be changeable as the season goes on.
AyeDubbleYoo
Think I agree, there's just something about Saylor that appeals to me, probably his psychopathy.
eliassenfredrik
Saylor has better potential, but he varies more than Williamson (or so he has done for the last year or two). But Steven is faster, more robust and a greater threat on corners and so on. And he's a local.
Guest BlacknWhiteArmy
I'd go for Saylor just based on end of season form.
Guest Roger Kint
I'd go for Saylor just based on end of season form. And the fact in that side he has more NUFC goals to his name than the other 10 so far, with Jonas in a front 3 i would worry about us tbh.
thenige
Personally I'd go for this, but then I'm probably putting to much stock in players I haven't seen that much of. Krul Simpson S. Taylor Colccini Enrique Cabaye Tiote Marveaux Ben Arfa Jonas Ba Subs: Harper Williamson Barton Vuckic Tavenier Ferguson Gosling
Disco
At current, our complete lack of back up would see floundering in mid-table at best most likely. The only place we have suitable cover is on the left wing and if one of Williamson/Taylor get injured. Any of the other first teamers pick up a knock and we're struggling. No chance we'll go through a season without picking up injuries, it seemed we picked up more niggly injuries in the last campaign after Pardews arrival although that could've been down to general wear and tear through the season. Dave
Ba and Tiote will be off to the ACN too, which will see them miss at least four games.
Conjo
...as you see it. could be inetersting to watch the changes as time goes on, for example if they had been any truth in the n'zogbia, gervinho, erdinc, barnetta rumours and hopefully more faces come in for the first team. krul simpson colo taylor enrique cabaye tiote barton ben arfa merveaux ba This for home games, and Jonas instead of Marveux in away games and against the top 5 teams for me. Consortium of one
Right now I favor Krul Simpson STaylor Colo Enrique Cabaye Tiote Barton Ben Arfa Jonas Ba with a bench of Forster Williamson Ferguson Gosling Guthrie Marveaux Best I'd like to add a quality striker and Barnetta (who would replace Barton) in addition to a left back to deputy Enrique.
