Guest
Finished at the top level almost. No excuses for him. He's 33 and was never the quickest or most physically centre-back. What do you expect? Not his fault he's in a position where he's the only barely competent centre-half on our books.
SEMTEX
Finished at the top level almost. No excuses for him. Well there is one excuse. Playing next to Williamson would make almost anybody look bad It would, but like Ronaldo says, Colo hasn't been good for about two years now, and it's got nowt to do with Williamson. We need to get rid of Colo, Willo and Taylor and get three new CBs in this summer, as well as bring Lascelles back as cover. Might as well have Lascelles here given he never starts a game for Forest. My feels are that he doesn't really give a fuck anymore.
Bada Bing
Hard to blame him for not caring anymore. He knows what this club stands for, been here too long

It is his fault he's still useless dealing with physical strikers after 7 years in this country. It's also his fault he doesn't do his job as a captain. DJ_NUFC
When was the last time he was paired with an actual decent partner who can complement his weaknesses, though? Other teams extend the usefulness of their CBs and strikers by having a much quicker player next to them. Our policy has been to pair him with absolute shite, and sell the best young defender we've had at the club in ages to Roma.
Ronaldo
Mapou has pace. Colo looked fucking awful next to him, too. Same with Bassong.

Ronaldo
Paully, out of interest what do you blame his utterly shit defensive judgement on, his brain getting old?
Andymc1
He isn't what he was but you go way over the top when slating him. He's still the best centre half at the club.
DJ_NUFC
I imagine Ronaldo and College Dropout's universe going completely red with the siren-theme from Kill Bill filling the air every time Colo and Cisse are mentioned, respectively. I was kinda the same way about Gosling, so I do understand.

Probably because we've got the same 3 CBs we had in the Championship 5 years ago.

I only get vaguely wound up when his abhorrent fan club on here defend the indefensible instead of just putting their hands up and admitting their hero is actually quite shit. I'm not defending my irrational hatred of Gosling in any way. Although he was simply the embodiment of Pardewism, as was Shola / Gouff on the wing, etc. We need two new CBs, and give Abied a run in the team, asap. Fair point but Colo really isn't as bad as you make out - he needs replaced but it is very unlikely to happen for a few transfer windows yet.

Totally agree about giving Abeid a run in the team. He was our best player before getting his injury. He's physical and can actually pass a ball. Think it's time Colback sat in the bench in place of this lad.
Guest John Carvery
Having said all this, a decent replacement for Williamson/Taylor/Steven Hawking might revitalise Collocini.
The College Dropout
For a slow defender who is barely adequate in the air and a little weak he's had an amazing career. His game hinges on such fine margins.
Ronaldo
Spain was definitely the right country for him. His astute reading of attacks saw him through 3 good seasons in English football but once he started deteriorating physically with age it was like kicking away a stick from a blind man. Deuce
Should head back to Argentina, play for a couple more years and hang 'em up. Just not cut out for this level any longer.
Paully
He gets a lot of unfair stick on here mind (hi Ronaldo )! You can’t deny that he’s fading but he is still by far our best centre half. He’s 33 now so his legs are obviously going to be on their way at the top level and he’s never been a physical unit! It’s not his fault that the idiots who run our club decided to play out the last four months of the season with only two fit recognised centre halves one of which is Mike Williamson! Blame those idiotic wankers and not Colo! He’s the best centre half I’ve seen at NUFC – his prime for us was better than Woodgate’s for me and the fact that he hasn’t been constantly crocked! If only we had these two together at their best as they’ve both had to put up with numerous awful centre half partners!
Mole_Toonfan
For a slow defender who is barely adequate in the air and a little weak he's had an amazing career. His game hinges on such fine margins. Not really there's been plenty of defenders who are slow and not good in the air who have had great careers. It's not the be all and end all like you think it is.

Paully
I've got the popcorn out eagerly awaiting Ronaldo's response to this! Fabricio Coloccini is one of the Premier League's only 'proper leaders', says Newcastle head coach http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/fabricio-coloccini-one-premier-leagues-8739264
