just confirms what we've all known for the best of three years now.

Not quite, but tonight isn't the time for negativity.

Yet you bring it up anyway

Don't like to see history rewritten. Sorry.

He's a walking reason not to write new players off, and has been the best defender in the Premier League for 2 years now.

Imagine being told after we'd been relegated that this man would captain us towards at least the top 6, possibly top 4, and be recognised by his peers as one of the top two defenders in the league. Monumental turn-around. :aww:

Great news, now he just needs to be called up for Argentina again which I'm sure will happen very soon.

Nope, let them leave him alone, purely from our selfish point of view, less chances to get an injury.

Not if we qualify for the Champions League. :hmm:

Even if we do I hope he doesn't go through with it.

I don't get this mentality at all. Having potentially two players playing for Argentina would make me very proud, and it's great experience for them (playing and training with the best player in the world, arguably the best ever, is surely a wet dream even for top players) and having us represented in sides like Argentina is great publicity. For all we know, Jose not getting picked for Spain was a big reason why he left, I don't want that to happen again.

FABRICIO COLOCCINI: When the Argentine put pen to paper on a new long-term contract earlier in the season the sigh of relief was audible in neighbouring Sunderland and Middleborough. The squad rebuilding work Mike Ashley and Alan Pardew oversaw in the summer was heavily criticised by Newcastle supporters who felt the sales of Joey Barton, Jose Enrique and Kevin Nolan would leave them facing a facing a relegation scrap on the back of a solid return to the big time the previous season. Further doubts were raised when Coloccini, for all his qualities, was handed the captain's armband. Such reservations have proven to be unfounded as both Newcastle and Coloccini have been outstanding in a campaign at St James' Park that has exceeded all expectations on Tyneside. The classy stopper exudes all the physical prowess one would expect from a South American centre-half, while at the same being in possession of a deft touch and ability to take the ball forward. If Newcastle can keep hold of Coloccini and bring in more of a similar ilk, the sky's the limit for those in black and white.

Eh?
