Fabricio Coloccini (now retired)

So he says he wants to stay, and Pardew says we've offered him a new contract and we're waiting for a response from his agent.

Anyone else worried?

:snod: As you say, if it was a great offer we wouldn't be sitting here discussing whether he will sign it or not, we'd be celebrating. On that basis, there has to be some chance he's checking out his options and comparing them to our deal.

Hope he considers his status here and how settled his family seem to be and signs on the dotted line.

I genuinely think he's happy here and don't particularly think he's that motivated by money (but then I didn't think Jose was) so let's hope the offer isn't offensive enough to push his nose out of joint.

He's godd enough to play in any team in the world in this form though, so he may just fancy a title shot somewhere before he hangs up his boots.

Scenarios

a) It's just taking time hammering out the details

b) they're in no rush because both parties are content, Colo's not going to move away where his kids are settled etc etc (yeah appreciate footballers say this sort of thing all the time)

c) Colo's playing hardball and wants another year on it or something

d) Colo's been approached by a big club and is pondering leaving

e) Colo secretly hates the club and is going to bugger off asap

f) the club accidently sent the contract offer to Smith who is signing it as we speak  :kasper:

Please tell me Colo doesn't have that ridiculous Tevez agent, Joob what's his name.

Nah. Kia J... lives over here and is Iranian, the scumbag that he is.

When he moved from Depor his agent was named as Marcelo Lombilla.

Apparently Colo is pretty prudent with his cash. Rents (or enquired about renting) a flat in Newcastle for when his family want to visit, and spend a considerable amount of time trying to get the price down to almost unreasonable amount.

Fair play to him. If you don't absolutely need it why not try and get it as cheap as possible

Pretty confident he'll stay based on our start and the fact he's captain.

What like when we came a respectable 12th on our return to the top flight with our inspirational captain notching 12 from midfield?

Yeah but we're looking like a good team now, a team you'd actually want to play in.
