Mike Ashley

Christmas Tree

Fits nicely into our partnership portfolio made up of the UK's shittiest and most toxic brands.

 It just gets better.

Frustrating how we are continually being dragged downmarket.  No wonder Pardew thinks we are all stupid as the club's perception of its supporter base is obviously that we are thick and poor.

This is another downside of being run by people with no connection and little interest in engaging with the area is that they seem to be intent on maintaining a stereotypical image of the North East which is damaging to the club.

A new manager wastes money.

Stars of recent World Cups and European Championships are often overvalued.

Certain nationalities are overvalued.

Older players are overvalued.

Buy players with personal problems at a discount then help them deal with their problems.

Employ relocation advisers to help new players settle in to the area.

Use wisdom of the crowds.

The best time to buy a player is when he is in his early twenties.

Sell any player if a club offers more than he is worth.

Replace your best players before you even sell them.

Listening to Andy Brassell do some transfer talk on Talksport (aye I know) and some moron from our lot is saying that Mike Ashley now gets it and is going to become a cult hero at Newcastle. :anguish:

Some fans are idiots though. Some think that spending the bare minimum to have a squad shows that Mike Ashley now "gets it" that person needs to get a grip. I am pleased so far with our spending however, we still have Pardew to ruin them and still look short of a few players.

Hes the done the bare minimum, but because it happens to be all at once people think its a massive achievement and that Mike is ready to see us compete, its absolute bullshit.

He done something because he knew we'd be relegated if we did nothing.

Sanctioning the buying of players with money the club has generated in it's own right does not warrant praise, it should be a given.

Replacing players we sell does not warrant praise, it should be a given.

The fact so many are willing to drop to their knees and start piping the horrible wankers off for simply, briefly, acting like a (semi) normal football club is ridiculous. We should be looking to invest, we should be spending the money we have, we should be replacing the players who leave - that's just the normal way to do things. It's satisfactory, bang average, alright, reasonable. It certainly doesn't warrant the rimming they're getting from some of the fuckwits out there.

Stockholm syndrome tbh, throw us a few scraps and the less mentally astute think they're doing us a favour. We haven't had a permanent transfer in 18 months, anything would seem like a breakthrough, even doing the bare minimum. Fucking sheep.

Spot on. I am really happy with the past few weeks just because of the surprise that we've actually went and bought some players for a change, I'm not grateful at all to him for it though. He still hasn't spent anything yet as far as I'm concerned. It's just a relief we've signed some players, things were really looking like that might be a struggle a few short weeks ago.

The only real positive to his presence is the kind of player we're now signing. Under the previous owner, we largely spunked money on players that had seen their best days already. At least now, we get a player with potential to grow and rise. Hopefully the acquisition department hangs around after he has gone so we might get to keep them longer and build something.

I'd appreciate more transparency through the club as well. It seems like the loan from him just sits there when it could be paid off.
