In the Times today they reckon PCP are prepared to pay £300m for the club, but want any tax penalties arising from the HMRC raid to be offset against the current owner which might be a sticking point for Ashley.

Aye, since that's the whole reason he's selling.

It would be standard to provide new owners with a warranty against ongoing litigation.

It’s absolutely market and standard to be indemnified from pending litigation, and perhaps even reserve in escrow/title company an x amount of pounds to pay any fine, legal costs etc.

What's the indemnification for a points deduction ?

If he sells for £300m (plus the 'interest fee loan') he'll have walked away with £166m profit, plus 10 years of free advertising.

He took over a club that had finished top 6 in half of all its premiership seasons, and top 4 in a third, had made the FA Cup final twice, semi final twice and quarter final twice in the previous ten years and was top 20 in every world football rich-list published. He's taken us to two top half finishes and two relegations and four FA Cup match wins in his time.

But, 'better the devil you know'.

Worthy of a quote.

If any sale does go through any time soon, dickheads in the media and fans of other clubs are definitely going to say 'well he's left them in a better place than he found them'. Totally ignoring everything in the middle.

He took over a club that had just avoided relegation and had signed Srnicek, Rossi, Sibierski & Onyewu as our last four deals for zero pounds mind.

Jeff Stelling gave it the "better the devil you know" pish on Soccer Saturday about us having new owners if it happens.  Ashley hasn't done that bad as we have Rafa, and are in the top ten he spewed. Thought better of him, not now the Hartlepool supporting moron.

Edit : sorry just noticed Wullie mentioned it a couple of pages back.
