cp40
Might as well just hoy him in the team, front and centre, number 10 for the rest of the season and see what happens. As a Hatem critic I would agree with this, in fact since the season was effectively over I would have given him a run of gamkes. could do some damage to the Mackems. AyeDubbleYoo
Yep, got to try him as number 10 now, IMO no reason why he can't adapt if he knows he's the main man.
Nobody
Yep, got to try him as number 10 now, IMO no reason why he can't adapt if he knows he's the main man. Except of course for the fact that he's a wide player.

He's never convinced me in the number 10 role. Seems to get crowded out by the opposition midfield and then tries to do too much
Lotus
He might get a game if Gouf is injured. I can't see how Cabaye leaving presents HBA with more opportunities though. They are vastly different players.

Also, I'm hoping he won't feel the need to try as hard if he knows he's playing for a while. Look at the 5th place season, the amount of little passes and one-twos he played with the forwards was brilliant. And he interchanged beautifully with other members of the front 3. I just think that the conclusion that he's not suited for a central role has been reached far too early.

I'm sure he'll learn how to play it at some point.

I'm more than willing for him to be given a chance there as I want him in the side desperately (and surely he must be given a regular start now unless we magically replace Cabaye). Good point about the need to try hard as well actually. He's only ever been given a half or a game here and there to prove himself in the number 10 role and probably needs time to adapt to it fully
Hanshithispantz
Ben Arfa isn't anywhere near patient enough to play the number 10 role.

OK, to match your nuclear sarcasm... we should use one of our other specialist number tens there instead.
AyeDubbleYoo
Ben Arfa isn't anywhere near patient enough to play the number 10 role. I think that's a bit simplistic TBH, you could equally say Cabaye isn't quick enough and can't beat a player.

More than likely we'll play 4-4-2 with Shola and Remy up front. Unless we actually sign someone, of course. That might change things. If we get De Jong then i reckon it will be 4-4-2 with De Jong and Remy up front.

Well not really, because Cabaye is as calm as they come and has the ability to keep us ticking. If he was quick and could beat players he would probably going to Real Madrid for about £60m instead of PSG.

A position that is traditionally more about creation/goals than keeping the side ticking over.

captainhaircut
It's too congested for Hatem in the middle. He needs to be wide right trying to isolate a full back so he can past them on the inside or outside.
ads
Would love to see Hatem starting tonight in that role Cabaye has been occupying of late. With Anita and Tiote 'holding'. Let's see what Pardew comes up with tonight. Probably 4-4-2 with Shola replacing Cabaye...

Varadi
Would love to see Hatem starting tonight in that role Cabaye has been occupying of late. That should work in theory but never seems to in practice - think HBA loses the ball too much playing there, which can be very dangerous in a central position.
