the seat counting shenanagins on rtg are f***ing hilarious. if they get a bigger crowd than us this week , it will be like winning the world cup for them.

Must have been a terribly inclement night when they played in front of 7,500 hardy souls for the visit of Preston North End in 1995 in a league cup tie, or that stormy night a few years back when they played host to Colchester in front of 13,000 diehards in the very same competition.

someone was estimating 40k   until he was pointed out, areas of the stadium are unavailable due to segragation, being closed, and unsold away fans- a re-count came out c20k.

Really thought they'd get a big gate tonight with not having played at home yet and new signings making their debuts.

A lot of their old school, decent fans seem to have just given up on the place nowadays and left it to the heathens and inbreeds who've taken the place over.

What the fuck is "marra?"

Mackem/Shields for mate.

Always thought it was a general north east - Tyneside/Wearside,Durham/Northumberland - expression for "mate".

Not so long ago mackems called themselves Geordies and "mackem" was a derogatory term for Sunderland people (now they're proud to have the identity). Marra seems to be becoming a mackem thing.

Just been chatting to one of my customers about football, Everton season ticket holder, in particular about our upcoming match on 17th Sept at Goodison.  I was being casually downbeat and understated about what what I thought about our chances and he said that I should be more optimistic as things could be loads worse....  out of the blue he said you could be a Sunderland fan!

He said that they are blissfully ignorant of the fact that they are universally considered to be pathetic even though they swagger around like everyone loves them....

Doesn't matter who they sign or how much they try to align with anyone who will listen to their pathetic ramblings.  At the end of the day they are nothing to anyone who knows anything about football.

Love it!  :D
