Genuinely think Perch was better than him. Perch would come on to help us see out wins. Far more effective than Anita ever was for us
greydos
Still can’t believe he wasn’t related to our former coach Antia. Hopefully now he’s retired the Who Do You Think You Are team can get Big Vurn on there and finally clear that up for us
James
Hope that fat-assed waste of air has a shit retirement, loses all his money, can’t get a job and have to live in a Utrecht bedsit on benefits for the rest of his life as payback for the living he stole out of us. TRC
The west ham game to keep us up he was motm

Christ I thought he was shite for us, but I never held any ill-will towards him. Just a thoroughly mediocre player and I’ve seen dozens of those in B&W
Moose
One of the most average players I've ever seen for us. He wasn't appalling, he never did anything special, he was just always kinda there. The most notable thing about his Newcastle career is that his name is synonymous with one of the worst transfer windows in recent times.

AyeDubbleYoo
I always thought he was very neat and tidy, quite mobile as well. Didn't offer that much but wasn't a terrible player. It was a terrible time of course.
andycap
I liked him canny little player just a bit lightweight for the league.
The Butcher
The man is as big as a child. He was never going to make it in England.
TaylorJ_01
Scored a screamer against Brugge. Was fairly tidy otherwise. Not sure why all the aggressive hate
AyeDubbleYoo
IIRC at the time we signed him we really needed some proper reinforcements and Big Ashley didn't fancy any more signings.
gbandit
Given Vurnon Anita’s stature I think there’s a good chance if Vurnon had been here under Eddie we’d have seen him make an exit out of a window at the top of the Milburn stand

Yeah, I think it's the window that people remember more than the specific signing. Average isn't too bad for an NUFC signing of that period TBF. Big Geordie
He was neat and tidy, much like Hayden. Not as bad a player as some folk make out - but he was ok. Very much a player of a how the club was at that time. Wish him good luck for the future.
triggs
He was awful but seems like a nice little fella
Astroblack
Little Vurn and his big fat arse. Awful player. Neat and tidy? I don’t remember neat and tidy. I remember shin kicking and giving penalties away at Chelsea. A lot of people romanticizing the type of player he was. Wanna know the type of player he was? Go watch Manuel Ugarte. THAT was Anita. Pilko
Recall good goals vs Brugge and Man City at home and two electric performances in the West Ham home game & away at Hull in the Pardew headbutt game. Otherwise he was somewhere between bang average and turgid. That Fulham home game in the Championship when he played right back and a 12 year old Sessegnon was denied the chance to take the pen for his hattrick, probably gets in the top ten worst individual performances in an NUFC shirt. Bellars
He was a good player during a dark time. Didnt exactly have a ton of quality around him and terrible management, so hard to judge, but he was far better than most Ashley signings.
