Jill
I love these European nights in the SE Corner. Sitting up in L7 for evening games was always fucking freezing and windy as hell, but down in the corner it's really quite mild. Downside is I could hear nowt from the away fans. nufc4eva
I hope when Pardew said a glimpse of the future he didn't mean Harper in goal and both Ameobi's up front for next 10 years, with us selling Ben Arfa, Cabaye, Krul and Ba - that wouldn't be a good future
broonalegeordie
Sitting behind that Arooga cunt for the whole game, he had a massive hat on. Glad to see he's still alright, haven't seen him in a couple of years. Haven't seen him since I moved house and he longer cleans my windows! He's an annoying cunt when he's at your window singing and doing terrible arooooga noises.

STM
Haven't read any of this thread, so here mine; Harper 6 worries me with kicking Santon 7 was ok Perch 7 very assured Taylor 7 was ok Ferguson 8 great crossing Obertan 6.5 same old but good finish Tiote 4 gave the ball away at least 5 times Anita 4 didn't impose himself Bigirimana 6 was the best of the three Sammy 8 mom, great display Cisse 6 needs that goal Shola 6 put himself about Colo 6 usual self, great clearance Cabaye -
Benwell Lad
Pardew's programme notes were excellent last night re how we are approaching the competition. 10/10 for him so far, we're top of the group playing what is essentially a second choice XI who are getting very valuable game time. Really looking forward to the tougher challenges which lie ahead in the knock out stages and seeing our best team up against top opposition. Decent team performance last night, Obertan is starting to make a few who wrote him off wonder if he can offer us something different now. Tiote was shockingly bad. Coldest night I can remember for quite a while at SJP.
buzza
Tiote needs to stop doing those twirls in the middle, he's getting caught out too often ! Anyone remember Scotty Parker doing much the same??? Agree with everyone on the 433 stuff, we aren't dominating midfield enough to play only two in the middle. Think Obertan is getting better and is finally taking on the last defender, really liked the look of him last night, dropping back to defend aswell... I would even go as far to say I would prefer him or Sammy in a 433 formation with ba upfront, we could play some awesome counter attacking football with Ba spearheading the attack, solidity behind them through chieck and jonas with Cabaye setting the rythym (dribbles)... GuyP
Some thoughts; I had the most annoying bloody 13 year olds behind, with opinions such as "Anita is a complete waste of £8m, he cant do anything" followed by "Sammy and Shane Ferguson are shit, why are we playing them in Europe" and the worst, "Coloccini didnt play for us in the Championship man!". Stay away please...wouldnt have been bad but they started berating their mates who didnt make it to every game... Tiote started very poorly, poor passing and just dicked around on the ball. He did settle and looked good, but we saw more of the red card attracting tackles that he needs to cut out. Sammy looked selfish yes, but on a night like last night, we were begging for someone to take it by the scruff of the neck and do something. The linkup between him and Shola was superb a couple of times last night...i dont want to go too far, but Messi-Iniesta... Cisse was unlucky again, he will be firing by xmas i reckon. Though I dont think Anita is bad, i do think Bigi is already playing at the same level which considering the price tags is very impressive (for Bigi...). I do see good signs with Anita though and i reckon given time, he will get more towards Cabaye/Tiote level of performance. Santon is god. Harper still looks the most assured keeper in the history of football. "yep its going out, leave it" as it strikes the bar...the only time i noticed it last night was a chance very early on that he nearly spilled. Good performance overall though. Ryan_Taylor
Santon must have had a right laugh last night. Paper bagging people left, right and center. Sammy
WarrenBartonCentrePartin
my mate is a copper and was in the away end last night (therefore nuneaton hates him having never met him). Reckons Brugges fans were kicking off at the turnstiles and then trying to start fights all over town post-match.
Magpie
Tiote was not diabolical FFS, aye he's going through a rough patch but no way was he as bad as some are suggesting.

People need something to be OTT over, tbh. Tiote can handle it because he's the beast Newcastle deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So they'll hunt him, because he can take it, because he's not a hero. He's a silent destroyer, a watchful protector, a cheeky little scamp.

Some seemed right tits like from what i seen, setting off fireworks on the way to the stadium, and being canny edgy before the match 'round the Gate/Goose area, and singing over Supermac in the no.9 bar They musn't be able to hand the Brown ale! But then after the match we met some canny Bruges fans in the Goose, swapped scarves, told us about Bruges (as we're going) etc and another few lads outside the Gate who we went to the casino with! Klaus
Was a decent atmosphere at the game last night, good performances from sammy and obertan, excellent finish for the goal. STM
Tiote was terrible. You simply can't afford to gift the opposition the ball in our third of the pitch, had we been playing a premiership side we would have got punished. Harper is well past it. Overall I was impressed by the lads coming though. Ferguson and Sammy show far more promise than Vuckic. A comfortableish 1-0 by the second string in Europe is nothing to be sniffed at. In Rosie's after the match at one point there seemed to be a crowd of dodgy looking fans of theirs gathering outside the Irish Club. It quickly dispersed when the police + dogs/horses showed up but seemed to just move further down towards the Gate. We got talking to one of the security lads while waiting for the bus home and he said some of our fans were baiting them up Barrack Road and launching bricks, but it was all teenage dickheads. if true. PCW1983
Decent enough game last night considering our starting line up, it would have been nice to have scored more because even without our full first team out we were stronger then Brugge although they put us under some pressure towards the end of the match. Tiote was the disappointing player for me last night, not terrible just disappointing especially when you consider his "purple player" status within the squad. I think we just need to go back to basics with him, break up the play and pass to a more technically gifted player. He's trying to do too much atm and i think that this brings on the rashness that we see in his game at times. For me though the biggest disappointment was the crowd/atmosphere. It reminded me why i don't go to friendlies anymore. The songs were just cringeworthy and embarrassing tbh, the Cattermole song, JS is a Mackum, Taylors right, YSIFS, Who are ya.........just pathetic. I think i heard Blaydon Races once towards the end of the game, how we have changed to this style of "support" is lost on me but i just find it completely pathetic. Were having our most successful period of football for years, playing in Europe, have some top quality players and some fantastic prospects, a fantastic stadium, city, team and thats the best we have......amazingly poor. I hope its not just us but last night our "fans" spent more time looking to abuse our neighbours then they did supporting our team in my opinion. joeyt
Couldnt believe one of our corners yesterday, where Fergie passed it to Bigi who then returned it to Fergie's right foot. No wonder we never score from corners
