Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa joins AS Roma then Lyon

Recommended Posts

Earlier this month (after we'd signed Debuchy), Pardew said something along the lines of "we might get a defender as well, it depends on how much we have to pay for the striker". Seeing as we're now getting Gouffran on the cheap, that probably means the funds have gone to MYM instead.

So, would people have preferred getting Remy (he'd have cost about the same as MYM and Gouffran together, no?) and not a CB/cheap CB or Mbiwa and Gouffran?

Honestly, although not as exciting, the most crucial signing IMO is Mbiwa. Our defence has looked steadily worse and the fact the Saylor is injured so often has left us very vulnerable in the CB position: this coupled with the Colo shenanigans makes the signing even more important.

We need a new Captain and I hope this lad could be the person to do it.

Mbiwa and Gouffran if i had to choose, Remy would have been great but we still would have had Williamson for the foreseeable future and the possibility of Colo leaving it would have got even worse.

I know being greedy but would be good if we got another forward/winger through the door also.

Although if we get Mbiwa, Sissokho and Gouffran with Haidara and Debuchy it looks like we may have some good depth through until summer assuming nobody goes.

You would hope that with Ben Arfa and Steven Taylor coming back would be enough to get results required to keep us up

Amazing scenes. Fabrice Pancrate has his penalty saved and the third division side are through. #CdF #Epinal #MagiqueOfTheCoupe

Not at all relevant, but surely its worth mentioning the very man that started our French revolution
