I'd sooner have De Boer avant Garde, but I think he'll do a good job here.

If De Boer does decent here (top 10) then the media will tip him for every big job on the go, pretty soon one of the bigger clubs will get twitchy feet and go for him. With Garde I think he'll be able to do his job without anyone noticing much, as a result he'll be able to build something more long term. If any of that makes sense.

Unless they are a heavy wearer of shoes and need to replace them regularly, it shouldn't be an issue.

Not really..

I'll put it in different terms. Say we signed Messi, he scores say 15 goals for us in a season, pretty soon the big clubs will take him off us after he's been touted by the press. If we signed Charlie Austin and he scored 15 goals for us it will probably go more unnoticed and we will be able to keep a hold of him because he's not a big name and the big clubs arn't interested in little names. Both players have done equally as well but one we have managed to keep a hold of because of his stature. In my opinion Garde has the ability to do just as well as De Boer but we will keep a hold of Garde for longer because De Boer is the big new name manager in Europe who all the clubs wil be taking an interest in.

Exeter's manager

Arthur Cox was manager of Chesterfield before he became our manager and Kevin Keegan had spent 8 years on the golf course on the Costa Del Sol and had no managerial experience whatsoever when he became our manager.

KK even admitted that he'd been out of the game for so long he had to spend time learning about the game again and finding out who he knew who was still in the game and could trust.

Everyone has to start somewhere and not every top manager starts at the top either.

you're talking about taking the guy from exeter and putting him in charge of a club that is in the top 20 (still?) in europe man*

the examples are not comparable

wonder if arsenal will be taking the manager from TNS to replace wenger when he goes?

that said you're right in principle aye

You do know which league Wenger came from to manage Arsenal don't you?

sure, after managing 2 clubs in france he spent a year in japan before being pulled to lahndan

what's your point?

EDIT: Wasn't aware Wenger won the title with Monaco and Bayern Munich tried to take him prior to him going to Japan. But aye let's get the lad from Exeter.

Le Parisien: Remi Garde is Newcastle's #1 manager target and the deal could be done in the middle of next week. GFFN has no confirmation.

Are they reliable, or?

It's good news, so no.

Don't really believe it, but don't see what they've got to benefit from writing bullshit stories about us. UK based papers will know that they'll sell a few extra copies up north by putting stuff like that on the back page (see The Mirror), but a Paris based newspaper? There's absolutely nowt in it for them (especially on a day like today, considering what happened there yesterday).

Just trying to stay optimistic.

Anyone know if Le Parisien are reliable at all? Desperate for it to be true

For Paris based stuff they are 2nd to none but considering Remi Garde isn't from Paris or managed PSG I'm going to say no.

Is Julien Laurens from La Parisien? If so he contridicted that tweet completely on the radio about 20 mins ago.

Aye, if he was still at Lyon you could understand their reasoning for making it up. The only reason they would be lying would be if they were reasonably confident of it going through and want it as an example of them being correct.

Theirs been plenty of talk of him being our no1 target to start reasonably believing that he actually is.

Guardian.

His twitter says 'Husband, father, French football journalist based in London working for Le Parisien, RTL, BT Sport and ESPN.'

Guess he is wrong....

No idea, a quick Google search says Guardian so I'll stand corrected. What's the chance of him being in the loop on breaking news when he's based in England though? I doubt someone will have heard this an immediately told him. Look at the Chronicle, the reporters don't even communicate there.

As if you can compare The Chronicle with any respected media outlets....they are as professional as your average school newsletter
