sempuki
Another great, lung-busting performance. A bargain for what little we paid for him.
Kanj
What is nice about this man playing out wide is that he does all the leg-work defensively, has good technique to be involved in the midfield and build-up play, and gets into the box when up-front. That ball Shola played out wide to Remy, Gouff went diagonally from the halfway line into the box; used his striker's instinct there.
AyeDubbleYoo
Knew he would be a much bigger player for us than we thought at first, pleased to see he's doing it.
Kanj
He's basically a CF who's changed his entire game to play a utility striker/attacker/winger for us. I respect that massively, and he does so with the best of attitudes and 100% effort on the pitch. You can't help but really support the guy. I wish more footballers played as self-less as he has for us for their respective clubs.

duo
Seems to be getting better with each game.
madras
reminds me a little of sibierski. brought in cheap when many are wanting cash spent, nobody can see where he's going to get a game but wins everyone over, proper cult hero. edit......keeps up this form could be a shock world cup call up ? that adaptability and work rate that he wasn't known for coulds be great for a squad. joeyt
Not moody enough to be in a French World Cup squad
Dave
He's loads better than Sibierski, howay.
Mole_Toonfan
Can't see that tbh, even if he does play well he'll never get the media hype like say Ben Arfa did before the Euros. They will probably pick someone more hyped like Griezmann or Thuavin.
madras
He's loads better than Sibierski, howay. yeah, should have made it clear I didn't mean play wise, more so the unheralded arrival etc and the way he's won people over.
Dave
Well I still disagree, Sibierski was absolute desperation stuff when we signed him.
Kanj
France national team could use a bit of a hard working all-around player that can be a goal threat. The Euros they took a shocking number of midfielders and did fuck all. I'm talking with wayyyy too much bias mind.
madras
Well I still disagree, Sibierski was absolute desperation stuff when we signed him. and we weren't desperate when we signed gouffran ? i know what you mean like but different circumstances. I just mean totally unheralded and wins people over with a work rate that they weren't known for.
Dave
Well not really. There was a week left in the transfer window and he had a near one in two goalscoring record for the season at that point. A 26 year old on a four year contract. Sibierski was 32, shite and signed with hours left on a one year deal. It was a joke. I get your general point, but I still think you're overrating Sibierski and underrating Gouffran. KaKa
Well I still disagree, Sibierski was absolute desperation stuff when we signed him. Yeah, I mean Gouffran was starting upfront for Bordeaux and banging in a goal every two games for them. While we signed Sibierski off the street I believe. Wasn't he handing out leaflets in Manchester or something when he got the call from us?
Yorkie
Don't think I've ever been more disappointed with a signing than I was with Sibierski. I know we went down amidst circumstances the likes of which, hopefully, will never be seen again, but it really was the pits under Souness and Roeder n'all. Hated pretty much every second of it. Sibierski and Bernard on that particular deadline day. We might have even scored a few more goals that year if Roeder had any idea what he had in Rossi. N'Zogbia out in the cold too (in favour of Duff!) Guh. Obviously, Le Sib went on to be a reasonable player for us, particularly when you consider the expectations. Just an all-round classy player and bloke, though extremely limited. Clearly fucking loved the Toon, n'all.

Benwell Lad
Just love this guy's attitude to the game and for someone who is performing the "willing work horse" role his goal scoring is very impressive. Can we consider him as our goal threat from midfield or is he just a "lost forward". Whatever but long may it continue.

themanupstairs
The french Kevin Gallacher/ Peter Lovenkrands only better. Love his attitude. Not seen anyone play for the team as much as this guy does for a while now. Dat composure to get out of the pickle in the corner
Hughesy
The french Kevin Gallacher/ Peter Lovenkrands only better. Love his attitude. Not seen anyone play for the team as much as this guy does for a while now. Dat composure to get out of the pickle in the corner This is exactly the point I tried to make earlier. He is far far better than a Gallagher or Lovenkrands. Because he works so hard, people lump him in with limited hard working players.
TherealnorthernTOON
For all his plusses I think he lacks that final little touch in the dribbling department. Don't really know why, because he seems fast enough and agile enough to slip past players, but seldom takes the dribble on. If he would add that to his game he would be a 12-15 million striker though.

Only lumping him in with them because he was cheap as chips, as they were, and none were expected to shake the earth for us, but ended up making great positive contributions.
