Guest firetotheworks
I get the impression that he'll burn out after Christmas, but he's been brilliant up until now. The graft he puts in is always going to get him praise, but the way that he uses space, protects the ball and makes the opposition work is very good as well. Anything over 15 this season and he's done an excellent job. That should be his aim, but I think he'll fall just short of that. He's such an easy player to love. The College Dropout
15 from what is a midfield position is overly ambitious IMO. 10-12 would be excellent. Anything less than 8 would be disappointing. Playing one game a week I think he'll be able to keep this up for awhile.
Guest icemanblue
15.
basjen
3 in 12 (8 starts) in PL, plus one in the League Cup. 4 in 13, so if he continues his form and stay clear of injuries he could well get around 12, which would be excellent, considering how much he brings defensively as well. Of course 4 in 15, i forgot to count the other two League Cup games
Guest firetotheworks
Aim. He has 4 in 15, which works out over the course of the remaining 27+ games as about 9 goals, which would equal 13. 15 is a good number to AIM for.
Guest neesy111
Anything around 10 would be excellent considering our lack of goals from midfield in recent seasons.
Cajun
Still hate this idea he is a squad player. He's normally one of our best players and very rarely has a bad game.
Mole_Toonfan
He was a squad player, he's now a surefire starter. That is how you build squads buy players to improve your depth but have the ability to get into the first team and not people who are just there to make up the numbers. Love the way he plays and hope he keeps it up.

Beren
Don't think I've ever been more disappointed with a signing than I was with Sibierski. Kuqi monster?
AyeDubbleYoo
Damien Duff was quite disappointing. Clearly going to piss off and ruin the career of one of our most promising players.
Yorkie
Don't think I've ever been more disappointed with a signing than I was with Sibierski. Kuqi monster? Nah. Wasn't like he was ever gonna play. No idea why we got him, really.

I think Roeder wanted to do that any-case in hindsight.
Ronaldo
Duff disappointing? What a load of rubbish. He was a top player at Chelsea and we badly needed another winger with Solano well on the way down.
Yorkie
Duff disappointing? What a load of rubbish. He was a top player at Chelsea and we badly needed another winger with Solano well on the way down. Solano was probably our next-best player after Martins that season. We had Solano, Milner, N'Zogbia and even Dyer who could occupy a wing spot. A winger would've been useful, but we didn't 'badly need one' at all. Duff turned out to be an absolutely terrible choice. Mourinho (right?) obviously knew what he was doing when he sold that piece of shit.
Guest firetotheworks
He was disappointing in hindsight, but I was happy at the time. I was outraged when we signed Sibierski. I still remember what it was like on here. Ahhh, supporting Newcastle man.
The College Dropout
Hate Duff. Typified the overpaid, under-performing mercenaries of that era. He was essentially the Robert replacement right? Crap. Thought it was a good signing at the time mind. Chelsea sold us a total dud. Same with Man Utd. and Smith.,
Guest firetotheworks
I hated Duff as a player more than Owen, which is a remarkable achievement. Owen wins by being a THE wanker though.

Mourinho (right?) obviously knew what he was doing when he sold that piece of shit. Dyer was totally wasted out wide, Milner was expected to leave that summer, only staying because of last minute problems with the Viduka signing and Solano played at RB the season you're on about. His days on the wing were done. Duff was awful for us, but anyone who claims to be disappointed with the signing at the time (apart from Wullie, who rated N'Zogbia as the next Figo) is kidding themselves a bit. Yorkie
I thought it was a good signing providing he was second choice to N'Zogbia, who had been brilliant for about six months. As soon as Duff started his first game it was painfully obvious what was going to happen.

I still remember what it was like on here. Ahhh, supporting Newcastle man. We had a completely different section/sub-forum for transfers, I think. Couldn't handle F5-ing all the time, so played Footy Manager for a bit and came back on at about half-midnight. Sibierski. Then Bernard in the morning. AyeDubbleYoo
I just remember thinking that the signing made no sense because it would take away NZogbia's chance to shine. That is my recollection.
KaKa
So happy with this guy. Honestly think if he played upfront he'd blow people's minds. However, fine for him to stay where he is, as he's been great there.

Newcastle Fan
Duff Annoyed the crap out of me from the moment we signed him, the fact that he had to play every game didn't make it any better.
