Zlatko Zahovic

http://info.babylon.com/cgi-bin/bis.fcgi?rt=GetFile&uri=!!AET3780JFT&type=0&index=8

The year is 1999.  The month is August.  A 10 and a half year old WBCP is on an expedition of Crete with his folks.  They've hired a car and driven from wherever the f*** they were staying to some other town.  They go into a sports shop.  Young WBCP doesn't want a fake Brazil top to remember his travels.  He wants something authentic.  On a rack he finds an Olympiakos top.  He puts his hand in his pocket and pulls out his velcro wallet, the kind all 10 year old kids had.  It probably had a picture of "Purple Ronnie" on the front.  He looks at the price tag.  Whatever the f*** the shirt cost in drachma, he had just enough.  He made sure it fit and took it to the counter.  The old bloke typed in the price and proceeded to fold the shirt, then he noticed the back of it, on which was printed "Zahovic 25".  The old Grecian looked at WBCP.

"ohhhhhh not Zahovic!" he laughed.  Young WBCP was rattled like a Mag that had been told Cattermole was better than Tiote.  "What do you mean?" he uttered, or words to that affect.  The old man's eyes widened.  "He bad man!  He bad man!" he bellowed.  Nevertheless WBCP handed over the money and wandered out none the wiser.

--------------------------------------------

I now know he was somewhat of a dick and seemed to fall out with coaches everywhere.  Made it to Euro 2000 with Slovenia.

Scored a goal against Norway when the linesman raised his hand (not flag) to signal that the ball was NOT out, and Stig Inge Bjørnebye stopped thinking it was the flag.

Bjørnebye himself might also qualify for this thread, main years in Liverpool from 1992-2000, but had a spell in Blackburn from 2000-2002. Well known for the epic "Flo-pass", which was a cross from the left back to the right wing, a winger who could do nothing but head the ball.

And yea, Zahovic was a fucking dick

Anyone remember the scandal around Michael Woods being tapped up by Chelsea? Cost 5m, now plays for my local team!

Technically they paid £5 million for him and Tom Taiwo.

Still a great shout though!

Played about 10 games for Bolton after signing a 3 and a half year deal and was packed off the same January - this included an absolute shocker against us in the 1-3 Martins overhead kick game at the Reebok. Retired after 2 years at Nice, aged 26, due to being not very good at football.

Nutter and not very good footballer who played an astonishing amount of games for West Ham despite being unable to do the defending parts of being a defender. Made a big song and dance of leaving West Ham and pissed off back to Eastern Europe eventually.

By far the worst player to feature in the 2006 Argentina World Cup squad (laughably actually playing quite a few minutes), had a spell on loan at West Ham and was absolutely taken apart by Hansen on MOTD a few times. Currently playing for Atlanta in Italy aged 34.

Who was that French centre-back they had on loan that was pretty good. Think he got a serious injury and wasn't seen again, Lalille are something.

Jay Jay Okacha, a player with pretty great skill.... Who somehow ended up at Bolton where he became  a bit of a cult figure.

Ivan bleeding Campo, who played for Real Madrid no less and won the Champions League, completing ninety minutes in the final! He also ended up at Bolton and has now retired
