Just pointing out that his basic ability is the reason many of these chances exist, we might not have seen some of them as chances with another player. I can get why people are calling for some leeway ATM, I understand that, but those who are shouldn't dismiss those royally pissed at him for those games (plus a full season of performances which nearly saw us go down) Norwich was a shot away from being another to the list. The performances do matter, both halves, things won't go our way and points will be lost, right now that isn't the case. We need to turn up for two halves against west brom, anything less will be dropped points. Shearer was there before SBR but we wasn't finishing 3rd until SBR came and added Bellamy and Robert etc etc. Shearer is probably my favourite ever player, but SBR wasn't f*cked without him not even close. Mattoon Posted November 24, 2013 Share Posted November 24, 2013 Tbf Shearer wasn't exactly in a rich vein of form when SBR came in, he was responsible for getting him playing again and utilising him in a way Gullit couldn't. So that's a moot point! Can't complain about the results this season, just a couple of horrific displays. We keep playing as one half wonders though and we'll come unstuck sooner rather than later. He was never finished, his game had to be changed, his legs were old and tired and he couldn't play the same anymore, SBR got the best out of him and turned him from becoming bang average to prolific again.
