Maybe not unpopular, but as amazing a goalscorer as Haaland is, and he is, the Man City tax is very real and he'd need to score close to Messi 11/12 numbers for me to consider his record as being equal to or better than Cole, Shearer, and Suarez's.

Keith Gillespie too I think. And Tino, Nobby.

Do they sell long-sleeve shirts anymore? Haven't seen one in a shop for years.

If Liverpool are in the groove with 4 wins on the bounce including scraping past Forest and bottling a 3-0 lead to Spurs before a break in front of goal I hate to think what we are with 8 wins in 9 with 26 goals scored in that time tbh.

Gillespie definitely. I had the 95-96 home in long sleeve. Was going to get 7 Lee on the back but the club shop started an any name and number for a fiver so I got my moneys worth!

seem to remember Ginola liked a long sleeve, especially in the away kit

Just think they’ve got their attacking mojo back when I watch them. They will concede like they did today but they always look like scoring too with ease. Couple of crucial Salah missed penalties would’ve had it even closer for the run in. Sort out that midfield in the summer and they will be a handful for anyone again.

They can win every game 10-0, we could replay these last 5 games a thousand times and we'd win 2 and draw 1 of them 999 times.

We've been here with Liverpool before. This is the third or fourth time they've put together four wins in a row, then it goes to pot again.

To me it feels like they've left it too late this season so are trying things out for next. TAA in midfield, Gakpo in the hole, getting Nunez settled, etc.

The problem is they'll continue to ship goals while their midfield is as open as it is. I'm sure they'll sort this with a substantial outlay in the summer. They'll be looking at the same pool of players as us too.

Fully expect them to be back amongst it next season providing they buy well.

But how on earth can they compete in the market with a club with no ceiling???

Shame they're not the kind of club that would financially capitulate from a few years out of the CL.

Is there a site where you can find out the total amount of how much a squad cost? I know Transfermarkt has the value but not sure I can see what was spent.

I’ve been watching Liverpool closely for some time. I’ve long said it’s possible for them to win all their remaining matches due to the ease of them, having players back from injury and no European football.

At home they’ve been good in attack all season. It’s away they’ve struggled to score as much and they’ve been conceding all season.

Despite winning 3 on the bounce. They still have the same vulnerabilities and keep conceding. They still have the same issues at the back even with a first choice back 5. I’m actually more confident they will drop points now than I was before.

In any case.  I still think we’re good for 72-75.

We should be targeting 3rd and having our best statistical PL season or as close as possible. 75 would be better than any Sir Bobby season. 78 would equal the best ever and we’ll have a better goal difference.

On the back of Luton keeping last season’s home kit for another year: clubs getting new kits every season is a waste.

I agree. I’d be tempted to buy one if I knew the club would keep it for two years. Used to be the law actually so not sure apart from greed what changed things.

Not sure if this was serious, but it really piqued my interest - so if it was, do you have any relevant articles/source for it being law? 2-3 minutes searching on Google didn't turn up anything relevant :undecided:

That said, I did learn that the shift from multi-season kits to new kits every year came as a side-effect of the massively ballooning manufacturer deals that started popping up at the "big" clubs in the late 00s/early 10s, meaning it wasn't actually something most clubs wanted as the only true beneficiary of the "new season, new kit" system was the kit manufacturers earning back their money - and then some - from fans needing to buy new kits once a year.

Doesn't appear as if it will change soon, even with a few clubs reverting to the old ways, as the clubs that have broken off haven't been clubs that make a shitton of money from exclusive deals with the largest sporting goods manufacturing companies in the world - so they can "afford" to be kind to their fans wallets. More worryingly, one article I came across made a good argument for why away/third kits have become more "extravagant", "over the top colorful" and "increasingly eccentric" in their designs the past few seasons; online gaming. Stevenage specifically designed their away kit for the 19/20 season (partnering with Burger King) to "stand out" when someone played as them on FIFA and ran a contest where the participants had to post their best goals from an online FIFA match where they played as Stevenage, wearing the away kit. It apparently was a great marketing ploy as their brand awareness grew exponentially due to the 99% of FIFA players that had no idea why their opponent kept choosing a non-PL English team decked out in an extravagant kit - which triggered their curiosity and led them to familiarise themselves with Stevenage, as well as make the 19/20 away kit the most sold kit in Stevenage's history :dontknow:

Side note; I somehow happened upon the original laws of the game when I was looking for the law stating teams had to keep their kits for more than one season:

Little did I know that handling the ball used to be completely legal (rule eight)
