Remy isn't coming back while Pardew is the manager.

There's a rumour going round that Remy has been telling team mates at QPR that Pardew is a clueless white haired c***.

Not an unreasonable opinion considering they've met.

What's more damning is the fact you've already signed 3 strikers this window - 4 if you count De Jong as one - yet you still find yourselves in need.

damning in what sense?

EDIT: because personally i can't see how anyone could deem to judge riviere, perez or ferreyra based on the attacking quality the rest of the team has displayed to this point

we'd have literally had to sign messi or ronaldo for them to have made an impact

It's bad planning. If you trust what you've signed, you shouldn't be looking for anybody else. In terms of numbers you do have enough strikers in the payroll.

Ever since Remy decided he was too good for us to even bother trying or indeed play we have known we needed a goal scored, we new this because Remy, Cisse and Ba had shown us that goal scorers keep you mid table without much else in the team.

VI is right when he's says its bad planning. Preseason emphasised that we would struggle for goals. We do not have a striker who carries a threat or has the ability to worry defenders. Or indeed get a shot on target.

It is really so simple and has been discussed at length.

Our purchasing policy consists of:

1. Buying theoretically promising players under the age of 21 for <2m with the hope they kick on and become assets down the line.

2. Buying quality, younger first team players around 25 or younger, but only in specific circumstances (last year of contract, dispute with current team, reduced price, clearance sale, etc)

3. In cases where 1 and 2 don't apply, loans are a useful way to avoid risk and transfer outlay while acquiring talent.

In the first 2/3 of the pitch, our policy works well enough and has generated bargains on a relatively frequent basis. But you cannot count on our policy to be able to consistently get excellent strikers. We have been amazingly fortunate with Remy and Ba. We bought Cisse and he's ultimately been disappointing in spite of his incredible start. That confluence of events has led us to a policy that will never lead to a top class forward's arrival.

It's like golf. Going from shooting 90 to 80 is simple enough, but 80 to 75 is tough, and 75 to 72 is incredibly hard. At the top end, you have to work hard and spend a lot to get the difference between a 7/10 and an 8/10 striker. We don't have the balls to try.

Lost me with the golf stuff but the rest is spot on. Bargain basement strikers are just such for a reason.

I have a feeling we will sign Toby Alderweireld.

Hope so.

would be a cracking signing...linked with the scum down the road too it seems. De jong would be influential in him coming to us (assuming other clubs are interested) if  this is any truth to the rumour.

Deadline day loan bid for Remy, failed, we tried.

Go into Christmas in the bottom half, no pressure on Pardew from board as we should have backed him with a proven goalscorer.

Sign a striker on loan in January who scores 5-6 goals, brief revival, finish 10th.
