To be honest, you probably have a pretty good rep among agents as a springboard club. Remy, Debuchy, Cabaye, Ba... Hell, your board doesn't even put up much of a fight when selling (unlike Spurs, for example).

The trouble is that it becomes more difficult to "showcase" your talent in a struggling team.  Players are better off going to Swansea these days.  The only thing we can offer them now is the big stadium with 52k but the numbers are dropping and the atmosphere is dead so that is no longer much of an attraction either.

It depends. For players like Sissoko and Cabella, their value is still much higher now.  Its the likes of Tiote which has been completely found out in this league that has their value dropped below their initial cost.

We should still get more than the £4m or so we paid for Tiote.

Not sure he would go there from wolves. It's not burning hatred but they don't like each other

I don't really know of any dislike between us and Wolves.

Mind you, I doubt that would impact where a player goes in any case.

Dosen't matter how much we spend or who we sign, the players are sold the club as a springboard to better things. the mind-set is all wrong before they ever pull on the shirt.

Sevilla have been run like that for a decade, and they have a few trophies to show for it. It can be done, but it requires to reinvest the profits of sales decisively, and to reinvest them well.

Same with Southampton really.

Southampton and Sevilla haven't been run like that though. Southampton, at least, have been run to succeed and do what they do to succeed. We do what we do to tread water.

Teams like that and Porto especially have hundreds of worldwide scouts and have players bought or at least lined up before the current one leaves. We have about ten scouts and replace players 18 months later, the models are completely different.

Edit- I see VI does allude to that with Sevilla actually

Benfica too. Even Spurs. Sold but reinvested.

We would've sold Bale for £25m 4 years ago.

Tbf, didn't Spurs nearly sell him to Birmingham on the cheap?
