Varadi
Shawcross is a bit of a cunt, which is one of the things we're lacking. Most of our players are way too nice, Cabaye could be a niggly little fucker but he's away now and with even Tiote trying to be nice these days there's only really Debuchy who has a bit of needle about him. Sissoko tries the mean and moody thing on occassion but it's just not the same as having an out and out arsehole getting in everyone's faces.
Super Duper Branko Strupar
Thing about Shawcross for me is, although he may well posses some good physical attributes that can make him a good defender, he has a shite small time attitude. He'll shine brighter at somewhere like Stoke than he will at anywhere better. Could see him being a poorer player for us than he currently is. mrmojorisin75
i think williamson has played himself into first choice myself, doubt very much they have any plans to replace him
Ronaldo
Well that'll leave 3 CBs when Colo leaves and you can guarantee whoever they bring in is likely to be better than Williamson and more reliable than Taylor.
mrmojorisin75
all depends where they see the priority to spend () is of course, i'm just saying that of the 3 CB's we have on the books at the moment not inc. colo i'd imagine that williamson is the one most in tune with the manager and probably the one he trusts the most based on recent selection evidence they might decide to go with a williamson/mbiwa starting pair, with taylor and a bairn (or new) filling in when required
ponsaelius
Shawcross is one of the most overrated players in the league. He's shocking on a pretty frequent basis.
themanupstairs
Personally i'd take Caulker over Shawcross at the moment, but Shawcross is the more experienced CB so would be happy with either one as long as it meant we didn't have to see Taylor in our back line anymore. Tiresias
I'd take Caulker over Shawcross, I am fighting to ignore my anti-stoke prejudice and can see he's probably rather good. Certainly would be better than Taylor, not sure about Willo right now though
Flip
Shawcross is one of the most overrated players in the league. He's shocking on a pretty frequent basis. It's weird cause this is how I see it as well. Sure he's better than what we got, but for the money being talked about we should stay clear in my opinion. As some others have said as well I'd prefer Caulker. i think williamson has played himself into first choice myself, doubt very much they have any plans to replace him If this happens we might as well kiss next season good bye already as well. Mike has done enough for me to be considered a 4th or possibly even a 3rd CB for a club in the PL, but I still think he's way far off to be a starter in this league. Guest
Pardew's made it clear it's Colo/Mbiwa for one spot so we definitely need another centre-back. We need a midfielder, winger, and either Remy & De Jong or two replacements for them. That's at least.
KaKa
We're never going to get in the players we need this summer, as there are so many we need. The World Cup will be a hindrance too. Next season is going to be catastrophic.

I think i have missed a few Golfmag posts lately, will have to see. Was confused by some comments about in during the Hull match too
aussiemag
I think Curtis Good can be 4th choice next season, he's debuted for Australia and has been magnificent for Dundee Utd (I know much lower level). I'll be interested to watch him against Spain, Holland and Chile in the World Cup. Ideally we need a young keeper, a fullback, a centre back, a creative midfielder, a winger and 2 strikers. Don't rate Santon and I'm not convinced with Dummett & Haidara yet.
KaKa
Didn't Golfmag say that we already have a Colo replacement lined up? Did he say lined up or over the line, because that is a key distinction that needs clarifying.

Puts Sissoko, Debuchy, etc. in the shop window too, plus an excuse why "bigger" clubs get Remy as well. Throw in all the World Cup tat Sport Direct will sell and this summer is Mike Ashley's wet dream.
